what of them guys?

looking at maybe a 13/14 plate 7k figure. Reviews are giving them the 4 out 5 stars but what's it like living with them. The ones I can see are mostly the 125's. I'm not looking for a pocket rocket but I don't really want to be bored to death.

There's no replacement for displacement :D

It's good for a 1.0, but it lacks guts. When I had one as a loan car, there wasn't a whole lot of difference in mpg to my ST tbh. I think it will be boring unless you at least get the higher HP one.

Good cars op. Try and get the 140bhp in Zetec S trim good looking car they are and 0-60 in 9.5 seconds is nippy for a little car

My Missus has a 125 bhp 1.0 ecoboost titanium- its a great little car and it can move when you want it to! MPG is decent too but I cant give you exact figures as it's her car and she doesn't know!!

What kind of mpg did you get? I k ow it says 65 but honest john has them at mid 40's

I used to get around 40 from my ST on my commute. The 1.0 had maybe 4-5mpg more, never saw anywhere near 65. I did floor it quite a lot through because it felt so slow pulling out of junctions etc. after driving the ST lol

For what it's worth I averaged 33.41mpg over 11,063 miles in my ST. This was mostly a mix of spirited A/B road and town driving. My commute changed in May to be quite a bit longer and involved some motorway and the average was more like 37mpg since then.

The best tank was 40.82mpg, the worst was 27.67mpg (I remember this one well :D).

Cheers guys. I am basically looking for a small hatch with good mpg to do roughly 8 to 10k a year in for about 7k. Wanting to replace my 09 plate 2.3 auto mondeo titanium x which is currently returning roughly 24 mpg. So even at 8k miles a year its still costing a small fortune on petrol.

Had my 100bhp ecoboost for 3 years now and I've averaged 45.7mpg for town driving and some B roads. Most of the efficiency you gain is lost because you're driving the car under boost if you want any sense of pace.

Are you sure there’s not something wrong with your Mondeo? I get about that MPG from a 3.5L V6... in stop start traffic.

Surely a 2.3 must be more economical. I used to get 34 from a 2.5L Mazda which is probably related to the 2.3 Ford.

I do a lot of short runs on long runs I get very low 30's. If there is something wrong I wouldn't know where to look. No warning lights etc full service history from ford.

Wow that is awful something must be wrong there. I get 27mpg at all times from my 13 year old 3.0 V6 ST220 that's taken to nearly 7k revs in every gear at all times :D

Short journeys and stop start traffic kills mpg so there might not be anything wrong with your Mondeo. In my last three cars, long term averages for each were like 18, 20, 21.

The Mondeo 2.3 is a pretty inefficient engine mated to a fairly inefficient auto box so it doesn’t sound “broken” to me.

Going from a Mondeo to a Fiesta will be somewhat of a downgrade in the comfort stakes though.

I still dont think your hire car was a 125. Or if it was it was broken.

The 1.0 125PS is enough power for most; in fact many drivers would manage with the 100PS version.

"Good for a 1.0" - what does that even mean? Are you comparing with a N/A engine? In which case WTF?
