16 months for having a "full-blown sexual relationship" with a 15-year-old

We had some good looking female teachers (Miss Pennicott, the PE teacher, was particularly admired) but I was only interested in girls my age. Dianne Stallworth and Karen Sydes were pure dynamite, and pretty much the definition of jailbait.

But this was the 80s, when everyone was still very conservative by today's standards.

They aren't "jailbait" if they are your age!

Because child abuse is funny and all Dad's should just let their lads have sex with teachers because they are horny little buggers, dur!

If my 15 year old boy or girl had sex with a teacher, I would be straight on to the police.

Lol some of the attitudes in here. She's a paedo. Simple as that. The sentence she received is a joke.

I think the lines need to be a bit more fuzzy. In this case it's abuse of a position of power, but if for example an 18 year old slept with a 15 year old, it isn't fair to brand them a paedo.

When I was 15 I slept with a 17 year old girl. Does that make her a paedo? :p

Legally yes. It does. It also makes her desperate (buuuuuuuurn!). The lines are lines. This was a grown woman in her 20s banging a child.

 :p

It just seems insane that say, a 22 year old banging a 15 year old makes them a paedophile, but a 60 year old banging a 16 year old doesn't. Especially when an awful lot of 15 year olds are more emotionally astute and mature than a lot of 16 year olds.

It's quite different to someone being predatory towards say, 7 year olds, but the term uses is the same.

That P word can ruin someone's life.

Personally I think we should reserve that term for people actually abusing children, not people below the legal age of consent. Otherwise you're equating a 23 year old teacher sleeping with a 15 year old sexually mature consenting lad, with a 45 year old man abusing a 9 year old girl. The obvious difference there is one isn't going to be any worse for wear, and the other is probably going to suffer permanent mental illness resulting from the abuse.

We do actually, as per NewGamer11's post, there are different terms for people attracted to mid/post pubescent "children" who are still below the age of consent. It's just that ignorant people love to throw the word "paedo" around for emotive reasons :p

It seems the teacher lived in Wanstead Park. I wonder if she was a teacher at Wanstead High (my old school in the 1980's).

One of my school friends was found guilty of sex with a 14 year old. He was 19 at the time which is a smaller gap than your example, although admittedly the girl was a year younger.

Maybe because your teachers were ugly? Our art and french teachers were hot.
So were mine and I can remember a lot of pen dropping to the floor whenever they walked past my desk.

Oh and one other thing I believe the boy is currently being treated for high five related injuries.

I know the distinction, obviously a lot of people don't make it or know it though. There are some truly sick individuals out there that really need to have that league of their own.

Assessments are generally as advanced (or simple) as the mind of the assessor.

No no, it's very black and white. Is the boy legally a child? Yes.

Paedophile - noun - someone who is sexually attracted to children.

Ergo she is a paedophile.
