California Is the First U.S. State to Legally Recognize a Third Gender

Yes.

Sex is not the same as gender. Sex is male or female, or some sort of in between mess. A **** up, you might say. Gender is a spectrum and does not always correlate directly with sex.

Uh... yeah. That's exactly what gender is. Congratulations on both understanding and not understanding the problem at the same time. You've achieved a non-binary understanding of non-binary gender.

No. Gender dysphoria is, if you can't reconcile your gender with your sex or sexuality, but that's not the same thing.

Big who cares.

Gender is a psychological and social issue, not a biological one. Biology doesn't get a say.

It doesn't affect you or bother you, but you're not happy about it. Awesome.

I never said I wasn't happy about it at all? you know what they say about assumptions, right?

I am outraged that someone is different to me. I am the only one who is right and normal. People are doing things that don't affect me at all but I don't understand them, they are mental. World has gone mad.

Hypocritical, simple minded morons.

its all meaningless - sure if you change the historical definition of gender then all these things can happen, but what's the point?
they have just made the term meaningless, its just a pointless way of labelling what people 'feel like', and we had plenty of these anyway.

What historical definition of gender? The ancient Greeks recognised the concept of gender as separate from physical sex. South Asian countries have recognised the hijra transgender people since the time of the Kama Sutra, which dates from the birth of Christ, give it take a few hundred years.

Not surprised. Is that why their old men had sex with boys? Pedrasty and all that, they also believe in magical gods who shoot thunder bolts.

Poisoning the well much? The Greeks also gave birth to philosophy, democracy, medicine, science, and much of western civilisation, but I guess you're happy to dismiss those as well?

I really don't see an issue and I especially don't see why people get so riled up about something that has a net 0% affect on your life.
Part of the problem I think the problem is people don't understand Gender and Sex or not the same thing...

Nah my point was it doesn't matter what or where you're from, what culture, what place, we're all human and make good and wacky decisions/beliefs. It's the human condition.

Not surprised. Is that why their old men had sex with boys? Pederasty and all that, they also believed in magical gods who could shoot thunder bolts.

So are you saying it's a good thing there was a change in the human approach to sexuality since men were involved with children.

So can you agree change isn't bad as long as it doesn't hurt anyone?

Shall we just close this thread then?

They can create new meanings, definitions, words, labels, etc. But biologically and naturally, they will always be defined by what they were born "with".
It's pointless.

Dear California,

Please stop being a complete *******.

Sincerely,

Sane People Everywhere.

My question would be 'why should I care?'

Recognising a third gender doesn't affect me, at least not in a negative material way. If people want this and it's not detrimental to me, why are we debating this? Let people get on with it if they feel it helps them.
