I hope so, I don't think I've ever seen buttermilk in a store though, do you know what can be used as an alternative? I think I'll use wings for a first attempt as they're more likely to cook through without needing over time. It is mainly the zinger coating that goes on the chicken breasts and hot wings I'm looking to recreate, does this one come close to that or is there another recipe I should be looking at?

Sainsbury's sell buttermilk, it's next to the sour cream and creme fraiche.

Cup of milk with a tablespoon of acid. Lemon/vinegar etc.
Although you can find it in tescos Waitrose Sainsbury's etc, just not all stores stock it.

To go out and buy the ingredients including the chicken will cost more than a KFC. It’s ok if you’re gonna have it 3-4 times a week, but who eats that much fried chicken apart from the local school kids. I kid you not, every single afternoon, chicken and chips without fail.

The pilgrimage to the chippy at lunch, some kids do it daily. Then you get people wondering why we have an obesity problem

I find often stuff like that aren't where you would expect them to be. I had a similar hunt for semolina flour due to not being with the rest of the flour.

good point - so are there any 'apps' to help find the good ones, assuming tripadvisor is pre-historic (if not this would be a great app to invent - easily rate your FF experience - maybe you first have to declare alcohol level)

On the DIY front, these folks think they have the recipe, but i do not have all that in the cupboard.

2 cups all-purpose flour
2/3 tablespoon salt
1/2 tablespoon dried thyme leaves
1/2 tablespoon dried basil leaves
1/3 tablespoon dried oregano leaves
1 tablespoon celery salt
1 tablespoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon dried mustard
4 tablespoons paprika
2 tablespoons garlic salt
1 tablespoon ground ginger
3 tablespoons ground white pepper

Finally got round to trying one today and didn't finish it, way too much cheese and bbq sauce for my liking. If I go KFC again I'll be sticking to my usual.

Boneless banquet for one is my usual, for the money I can't argue with how much they give you. I will say that it's been a while since I've been and I got a right shock with how sweet the pepsi was felt like I'd drank a bag of sugar.
