How to settle money dispute between (former) friends?

If they are willing to not pay a friend back after borrowing money, then i would imagine they have no issue telling a lie to mutual friends to make them seem like they needn't pay back or to villainise the lender.

well then they're trouble anyway... the issue already exists

Never give money to friends that you need back. Write it off, it's been 3 years, your health will thank you...

I'd lend my friends money. They've lent me money in the past and, admittedly at some length, received it back from me. If any of my friends ever needed money and I had it to spare then they'd be welcome to it. Friends are priceless, money comes and goes.

Money really does bring out the shittiest sides of people. I had a friend do it to me where I was the one who "owed" money.

I drove us to go out somewhere and asked to borrow something like £2.30 for the car park, given that I paid for her food, I figured it wasn't a big deal. Couple of months later she says "Oh, you still owe me £2.30", I was confused where this specific amount had come from, she said "yeah on this date you borrowed £2.30 to pay for the car park".

Basically told her if she's going to be that petty over insignificant amounts of money, she can not bother talking to me again, and so I don't.

I would be pretty ashamed to ask for someone for 2.30 back if it was used for the car-park after giving me a lift or paying for my food. I would have probably offered to buy the driver food for going out of their way to drive me...

Remember that 20p you owe me for 4 years ago? mind bank transferring it this week? cheers bud.

Sure thing bud. Just send me your bank details, your mother's maiden name, email, the first four numbers that come to your head and the name of your first pet. I will send you £10.

My Nigerian heritage is purely coincidental.

I lent £250 to a very old friend way back in 1999. Clearly remember saying that if he didn't pay it back I would add £10 interest per day.

His debt is now £65,950

I used to have a few friends who would try and get money back if they'd bought a round in a more expensive pub!
