***Official - Super Mario Odyssey Thread!*** NO SPOILERS

I've used the vague hint system but avoided the one that shows you where the missing moon is. It's nice to be able to choose how much hand holding the game does for you.

Yea! It's good like that, just the titles of the moons task is enough for you to work it out. Mario 64s objectives were named in a similar way pointing towards what needed to be done

About 200 moons in and 9 kingdoms found, it's just a game designed to put a smile on your face and nails the joy I remember from Mario 64.

So far I reckon BotW wins out in terms of the sheer sense of scale and adventure but Odyssey just throws so many great little ideas that you almost feel like you're on a constant sugar high from the treats it keeps offering :)

Small tip - all of the self-contained mini areas (like those you get to through a hat door) will have two moons, one obvious and one hidden. If you're aiming for 100% then save yourself some searching later and make sure to get them both first time :)

To add to what ricky said, also, not every moon is obtainable on your first run through a kingdom. So don’t feel annoyed if you don’t get them all. Just enjoy your first play through. :)

This game is an utter joy to play.

I feel a bit conflicted when in an area knowing that there are so many moons to collect but then I want to progress through and finish the main story as well.

Haven't laughed and sworn at a game this much in years. A sign of an amazing game.

Well I was playing until 20 to 1 last night (this morning).. Had to be up at 6 :O

Worth it though. :D

Only got to the Sand Kingdom level as I was exploring every nook and cranny in the first two.

A very nice change of pace from the other games I am playing.

So once the hints run hints run dry, does that mean at that point there are no more moons available on that world, come back later? Or are there some that the hinter can't help with?

Just wondering as a few times I have carried on in a world and swear I can't find any more so do think it's a case of moving on for now

147 stars in but I’m not rushing and enjoying exploring the worlds, think I’ve unlocked 7 so far, always a sign of a great game when you can’t put it down!

I stopped playing midway through the weekend to binge watch Stranger Things. Will be back on the Wagon tonight! :D

4 worlds in and about 120 moons

Also loving it so far, just left New Donk City with 160ish moons. Initially after the first 20mins I was thinking it was going to be a let down but it just gets better and better. Splatoon 2 and Mario Odyssey = Addiction overload :D.

Nice :) I shan't stress over it then!

Such a lovely game, not sure if it knocks Zelda off my years top spot just yet but they are both different enough to wonder which will take the crown

I honestly didn't think at the start of 2017, that two Nintendo games would be the only contenders for my game of the year. They are fairly different, but both are fantastic.

In January (before release) I had pretty much written off the Switch as an under-powered console. I've already got my Xbox One X on order, but even with 4K/HDR blah-blah there won't be anything really worth playing that'll be anywhere near as good as BOTW or Odyssey.

It just goes to show that Gameplay is king

Agreed. I must admit that after Skyward Sword and 3D Land I wasn't that hyped for the Switch offerings, but Nintendo are right back on form and it genuinely feels like the N64 days again to me. If they nail Metroid the trifecta will be complete!
