Looking after a Rottweiler puppy for a few days.

Does the crate have a divider? The space she should have in the crate should be just enough for her to stand up and turn around.

Both my dogs were toilet trained by 5months. Both have had the very occasional accident when unwell since, but generally can be relied upon to not go in the house.

I'm not sure what you want from this thread, unless its just to vent. I mean, you're right we could give you tips on toilet training (which you don't need anyway), but there's no point as the pup will only be with you a short while. I think all you can do is get her outside as often as possible and accept that its going to be a slightly stressful few days/weeks then remember the experience when you're asked to help out in future. You perhaps want to say no next time.

She is cute though.

No idea about the UTI. I could always message the friend and ask.

Urinary Tract Infection.

But to be honest I think a bit more training is needed, It typically takes 4-6 months for a puppy to be fully house trained, but some puppies may take up to a year. But its overall training seems a bit lacking by your post OP.

Our Collie was a bit like that. He was an absolute nightmare to get toilet trained. We did everything by the book, he'd wee outside, bring him back in and he'd wee on the floor straight away and we couldn't stop him crapping all over the place. We were going crazy and getting annoyed with having to clean up all the time, then one day after about 10 months, he just stopped and has never done it inside since!

Keep her.
Keep her and train her, then she'll be lovely!!

If it pees in a smallish crate it probably has a water infection, most dogs won't soil a confined space unless they can't help it.
When we first got our boy, he understood this all too well... and then proceeded to figure out how he could **** his leg and pee through the bars to outside the crate, thus *technically* not breaking the rules..... He's a smart little ******* at times!!!

Crate is big enough. She can stand up and turn without restriction

Just to vent really. Mostly about being taken for a fool after being told she is trained. Yeah whatever.. All being well she will be picked up later today. The wife and I are looking at getting a new puppy next year and a rotty was on the lits be the wife has decided against it after the experience of the last few days. I have told her and she knows, it's not the dogs fault it is just they way she has or hasn't in this case, been trained.

To be fair I don't mind not getting a rotty as I would love another Labrador. Best dogs ever. :)

Edit: My current Lab and the one before, I have had since 10 weeks old iirc. We made sure we both had time off. The first two weeks I would have off work then the second 2 weeks the other half had off. I was the one starting the initial training and got him (both of them) house trained to an extent that he probably did a wee on a pad or paper we had near the door after two weeks then the second two weeks the missus took over and carried it on. After a month of being with us he knew our routines, when he should go etc. The final week we got him used to time alone, first day we would go out for 2 hours, next day 3, so on till a max of 8 hours. He din't mind it and didn't bark, whine or cry, set up web cam to find out. Once he was around 8 months he had the run of the house. never messed or chewed anything.

In comparison to most dogs labs are easy going and not as much trouble. I think this may be partly why you are wondering what is going on. Terriers are even worse until they work out no means no and they are not a small hairy pack leader. After that they are still crazy but friendly enough. Either way younger dogs are hard work as they have loads of energy and lots to learn.
