If enough people think something, does it become true?

Is this hypothesis true,

So my example is Donald Trump:

He is labelled primarily as:

-Racist
-Homophobic
-Misogynistic

Now if you do any research at all in to his past or current views, there is far more evidence to prove the opposite of these claims, than the proposed. Not wanting to get in to the the dirt and grime of "he said she said".. the overarching question is prominent:

Is it true, that if the echo chamber is large enough.. Do unsubstantiated claims that play on the emotional few, become forever true, regardless of their legitimacy in reality?

This seems to be a something that should be analysed and preemptively actioned by people who actually want to make a difference. Be it a clear and concise manifesto; that justifies its claims prior to questioning, or the self control of the person wanting to make a change, to purposefully censor their views as to not create a negative image of ones self.

The idea loses ground when talking about a group or organisation such as feminists or MGTOW, as there are people who have varying views and take abhorrent action on both sides.

Trump won yes, but he lost because nothing he does will be taken seriously and anything regardless of how pro-active or good it may be, will be shouted down by the mob of reverberators.

Just a PS. I am not a Trump supporter, i don't care about what he said or didn't say, i used him as an example. I am aware that the negative self-image he has is primarily created through his use of social media.. and to stir up passion or anger to divide the nation.

I'm intrigued to hear your theory on how the "pussy-grabbing" evidence was fabricated.

On racism and homophobia, I usually assume they're used about Trump as shorthand for, "Not his primary goals in and of themselves but vices he's very willing to harness/promote/embolden in order to further his own self interests".

So i did want to avoid going into individual claims but on the "pussy-grabbing" thing, i don't claim that it didn't happen, but i do claim that it was a secret recording that he wasn't aware of.. And i have said FAR WORSE to my friends.. and i am not a misogynist, i respect women and treat them to the same level as men. I don't believe locker-room talk constitutes sexism.

On the racism/homophobia thing, i believe these issues tend to overlap into policy, i.e. the recent transgender soldier row - how trump is putting forward a policy to not allow transgender soldiers in their army.

There are multiple outliers in this scenario such as:
a) whilst not "recognized" currently as a mental health condition, the suicidality rates of trans people are 40%, only seconded to paranoid schizophrenia.
b) currently the army funding is paying for hormone replacement therapy for trans soldiers, a huge drain the the resources of the units and funding bodies
c) what level of fitness testing should they adhere to, be it male->female or female->male

There are many questions, and currently the administration is holding a report, they are awaiting results.

I would say if you look at what he has done for black communities and individuals over his past, you can see categorically, that he is not a racist.

Nobody would claim Obama was a racist, but look what happened to the black communities in the USA towards the end of his tenture.

Raging agressive leftism hell bent on shutting down everything else, they seem capable of twisting, warping the current narrative without much resistance from the mostly sane population.

This thread has not been locked, obliviously not many thinking same thoughts as me. ;)

Why would it be locked? o.O i'd say it falls into the guidelines of "general-discussion" :P i can't find anything in the rules about no political discussions.

A pretty thin argument with no real intention of discussion. Just a set up to talk about trump. Good job.
Perhaps i could have worded it better or used another subject for example. But he is the most easy to reference in today's society.

Stopped reading after that.

Sounds like you are... regardless of setting or environment you still have those thoughts.

Hard to prove i'm not a misogynist over the internet, i could use an example..
During my management years i hired more female managers than male, i had no incentive to do so.. i just believed they where better for the role at that time, when i had to quit my job due to my father being diagnosed with terminal cancer.. i wrote a long recommendation for a female manager to take my previous role as a replacement, going against my area managers view.

Locker room talk is something everyone does to some degree, women do it too.

I don't understand why people think being in the "locker room" makes it ok to talk about sexual assault the way he was.

Anyway.

I don't think he's actively racist or homophobic, mainly because I don't think he's smart enough to really hold a view on those matters. He's also not got the wit or will to distance himself from those who are racist or homophobic. He's very clearly a moron.

Well I got drawn in by the title of the thread.

What was that saying Joseph Goebbels said "if you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it"

Religion is a funny one because really it is an act of faith. If you are honest then you will admit that you cannot ever know for sure but that you do it anyway, like a spiritual insurance policy. But many are absolutely adamant that God exists and their religion of choice is the divine truth. They've had that narrative pushed and reinforced for so long that it is utterly entrenched in their minds.

I don't give a stuff about Donald Trump and his supporters or detractors. The USA is fast becoming a backward state

The shadow government have invested lots of resources into setting the narrative to tell that story. Emails will reveal this soon, EMAILS.

President Trump has tremendous wit and many people say this.

You have nothing to prove. The way the internet has become then defending yourself immediately puts you on the back foot and confirms the opinions of the accuser. Go back on the attack

Point being is his atttiude.

If he said "cor my secretary is a babe" that would have been ok
but saying "when you have power, you can grab pussies, you can do whatever you like" shows what his attitude is as a whole when it comes to his position, in business, and in poliitics. It shows he mentally he can do what he likes, and use that power for his own personal gains, to get his own way.

It's really no different to Weinstein.

He is labelled primarily as:

-Racist
-Homophobic
-Misogynistic

He isn't labelled as those things, he is.

I'd be a bit skeptical about that, it was crude talk and made him look like a massive douche but he was clearly talking about his status as a celebrity and how easy it was to pick up women/what they'd let him do - no different in that respect to say a rock star and groupies etc.. except, given it is the Donald, he's likely massively over exaggerating and part of this rock star status and resulting narrative is more in his mind - while he no doubt has bagged a lot of beautiful women I doubt it has been as easy as simply walking up to them like some big shot celeb as he was describing

whether he has also sexually assaulted women or not I don't know, but the recording itself talks about what they supposedly let him do, i.e. consensual behaviour and frankly I believe the grab em by the pussy bit about as much as I'd believe Jay from the inbetweeners and his stories about Caravan Club

I don't see any difference between trump and this guy

Both are politicians, both have expressed views that are not acceptable
