Lots of comparison pics between the X and my Pixel XL.

The screen on the X is nicer but I think Android is far better at real estate management. Fonts are set to the smallest on both devices.
Right now I feel the 2XL is a better choice for me.

The colours on the Pixel look terrible compared to the X! I was thinking of getting the 2XL as I'm itching for a full body OLED display and best possible camera, but the blue screen issues are putting me off along with the lack of wireless charging. I like the look of the X but it seems too small and the software problems may not be resolved until later next year when the X Plus will be on the horizon...

What software problem I’ve not come accross any yet.

Yes, most of them don’t support the screen yet. WhatsApp does but the rest I tried on your list do not.

I think this phone will get better as software is optimised. Ios11 feels like it’s support for the X is rushed. Lots of rough edges and silly design decisions such as the big area under the keyboard and Safari leaving a white bar at the top.

Control centre top right makes getting to the camera a lot slower, bit of a downgrade there. Also the keyboard feels really small after years of plus usage. Also have swiped home a few time by acccident whilst scrolling websites...

So still a bit rough around the edges, which is to be expected. I imagine in 10 months time the new Apple Phablet (X Plus) will be out, so I'll hang on to my 7 Plus until then as I will definitely be buying one of those on release day.

Quick question re face id.

My phone is in a holder when driving and due to the position of it and general use of sat nav its usually facing at me and i can see my reflection.

Will the x constantly be unlocked when not being used for satnav purposes?

No, because you have to swipe up to unlock while looking at it.

Anyone got any suggestions for screen protectors? Looks to be both the normal style and 3d ones with the bezel included... so unsure what is the better bet.

Considering the swipe home gesture starts at the bottom edge, I think a film style protector rather than a thicker glass one would be better.

I have no suggestions but I’m interested to know why you would put a hardened glass screen underneath a plastic screen protector? I’ve never managed to scratch an iPhone screen ever and I don’t exactly baby my devices.

I never had any trouble with iPhone screens up until my 6S which randomly got scratched in my pocket on its own.

I swear the glass has become far less scratch resistant since the iPhone 6 onwards. Due to the cost of the X, I’m nervous to leave the glass unprotected.

Yeah so far any concerns I have are software based, and the same things happened when the first 6+ came out. Overall they just need to up the screen real estate, even at the smallest font size it’s a bit fisher price.

As a guy who has used nothing but Samsung Android phones it took abit to get used to this but I'm loving it...so fluid and smooth and so easy to move between things. Once you get used to the swiping and gestures it just feels so nice to use and I'm really loving the screen too. It looks beautiful.

My only downside is the same one I had when I opened it earlier...for me the phone just feels too small. I'm so used to the Galaxy note series that its hard for me to get used to this screen size. If they did a plus version of this when it would be perfect for me. Even though its 5.8 inches its the fact that its thinner because of the aspect ratio that makes it feel to small for me.

il most likely keep it though and maybe just change to a bigger size next year when they eventually bring out a plus mode but so far that's my only gripe.

No screen protector and after 13 months, my 7+ is immaculate.

Haven't had any problems with other phones either... the only one that was a scratch magnet was the 5 and that was the back which was a known issue with them...

Yeah agreed. I have no issues with screen size and there doesn't need to be a bigger version. The device itself is amazing but iOS is ******* horrid. They need to improve the consistency of the font size, right now I only see real benefits in the settings app. I don't think that this will be sorted out anytime soon though so I've decided to keep my Pixel 2XL order open and return the X.

+1

The screen on my 6S is made of cheese. I now have a screen protector on it but I had it a few weeks before getting one. My old 4S (now my wife's phone) never had a screen protector and is in better condition than the 6S.

Apple clearly dropped the quality-control ball with the 6S screen. I hope they've since picked it up for the 8/X.
