Boris Johnson puts his foot in it again

Boris already did.
Laughable at best if you really think that.

Also Boris was in the job a lot longer than Sadiq is at the moment. So instead of jumping down his throat, let’s give him some time.

Boris’ time as London Mayor was non-stop broken promises and white elephants. He actively harmed London, just like how he’s actively harming a British citizen now.

His refusal to apologise demonstrates that he values his own ego above the lives of the British people.

What exactly have the Iranian government said this woman has done over there? I think I read she took a new child with her to see its grandparents where's the kid now?

The kid is in Iran, assume with said grandparents and no doubt hasn't seen his/her mother for ages.

OK thanks. It's understandable that the Iranians are sniffy about people from there leaving for Britain, gaining British citizenship, then hopping back over again. They probably view it as I would someone coming here from the Middle East getting UK citizenship, and then hopping over to Syria. Risky, you weigh up the odds of unwanted attention, right or wrong, and make your call. I doubt the Iranians are too hot on our beloved human rights.

Correct, the daughter is with her grandparents in Iran and hasn’t seen her father in nearly a year. The child is coming up to her 3rd birthday and, having been raised for the last year in Iran, doesn’t speak any English. It’s going to incredibly tough when or if she’s reunited with her father.

The Iranians say she's guilty of espionage and trying to bring down the government. She works for Thomson Reuters and Iran have taken exception to foreign journalists before, which is why Johnson's remarks about her being there to teach journalism aren't helping. They're interpreting the journalism thing as being to do with anti Iranian propaganda.

Which strikes me as only so much speculation, given that by definition we don't see him behind the scenes. All we see is him being just a bit haphazard and bumbling. What else is there to go on?

An immediate relative of mine used to work with him at the GLA and was involved in regular meetings which he attended. Her experience was that his persona of bumbling buffoon was not something limited to public appearances, and that most meetings would result in almost visible facepalms from attendees whenever he opened his mouth. Which is worrying.

It’s been confirmed by Thomas Reuters that she’s not a journalist and has no training in journalism. That’s what makes Boris’ comments so bizarre.

Just so frustrating, how somebody who's supposed to be witty and super-clever, is not only totally unable to manage a situation, instead of providing support and help - ends up saying totally wrong things, when the wrong people are listening, that results in his comments being totally taken advantage of and the situation being worse.

Idiot.

I struggle to recall if the bar has ever been so low in British politics, the overall quality of people and talent is just so low right now.

You only need to read up on the Garden Bridge disaster to realise that Boris did really well when he was Mayor.....But only for himself and his mates .

It absolutely disgusting how nearly £40m got wasted on the bridge, or how it was supposed to cost £200m - you could build a stadium for that much. Wonder how the cable car project is doing.

Basically he has an Eton education. IQ 100 but a high class education. Rinses really bright state schooled kids any day. He's not bright by a long shot.....just well educated. In with the ad hominem out with the right wing propaganda. Don't worry, when it all goes **** up suddenly everyone's a socialist. So whilst they're in power we can rape this country of everything it has and spilt when it all fails. Blame labour and sit on the opposition whilst it all blows over.

I think you will find connections and money will take you further than being clever. A private education does not buy you smarts but depending on where the private education is, it can most definitely buy you more connections.
