Virgin Media Discussion Thread

There is a beta firmware that partially addresses the problem from I have read.
In the virgin forums people have been trying to get the SuperHub2ac by phoning support constantly or gambling an activation of ebay SuperHub2ac.

Think thats all the possible work around. Personally, I do not notice any problems although most of my usage does not require ultra low latency. I think Overwatch is my best test but I do not feel any issues.

Really? That does not sound good. How often does VM normally update their modems ? I am having doubts that 2018 there will be a new modem since they do not seem to be in a rush attempting to fix the latency issue.

Well it's VM, they'll be concentrating on their advertising campaign and pushing speeds beyond what their network can support rather than upgrading the hub.

I understand there's one in the pipeline, but don't expect anything soon.

Slightly off topic but my BQM is just a red wall atm - running an Asus 68u on merlin and I have checked the setting in the firewall that allows to "Respond ICMP Echo (ping) Request from WAN" but still no joy on BQM.

I also have these 2 enabled - could that be tanking the packets?
Enable Firewall Yes
Enable DoS protection Yes

Any ideas?

Fired up the new 300mb line today - getting 388 down and 21 up :o

Not bad for now.

Edit
Looks like they have me on 350 rather than 300mb. Still not bad!

ppfft ;)

i pay for 100mb :P

I'm about to sign up for a vivid 50 package at £27 a month with £20 cashback from comparethemarket. Anyone aware of any other discounts?

I've read that there's £50 referral discount if anyone wants to pop me a trust message.

I still can't get mine working for some reason....still dropping packets.

Anyone got an Asus AC68u working with BQM?

Disabled all the firewalls etc and nothings changed....

I'd suggest one of three things:
1) Your IP address has changed
2) You're still somehow using the superhub as a router and you have the ASUS behind it
3) Firmware fault or similar with the ASUS. Try updating to the latest and/or factory defaults

I was writing out a response to your list going through the checklist but I think you've cracked it!

Logged into the Modem settings and for some reason it was still in router mode even with the wifi disabled and the purple light on. Flicked it over to Modem mode and I shall see what happens!

Thanks Chris
