Hi all
I am trying to get quotes for temporary insurance for 2 days next week on a 67 plate VW Tiguan SEL 1.4 DSG

I however on any site cannot get a quote to be displayed at all, there is always something wrong with the details and a quote "cannot be provided" or something like that
Is there an issue with getting temporary quotes for near new cars?
I have tried a 2012 Audi A5 3.0TDI with the same driver (me) etc and quotes always get shown for this

Even if I change drivers DOB it doesn't ever show a quote

Any ideas?

Could maybe be something to do with the group or segment it falls into. You tried a temporary addition to your own insurance?

Will try this, if not then take another policy out and cancel it within the 14 days
Or just let my mum drive :p

If cancelling, check which has the cheapest admin or set-up fees as these are non-refundable :) I had to do it earlier this year and ended up paying about £90 for 2 days insurance because of the set-up fee!

Just tried to add me as named driver temporarily but because I'm 19 they won't do it lol

Got a confused.com quote
£1201.76 for the year with a £25 cancellation within 14 days - admiral
Is premium linear? i.e is the price per day is 1201.76 / 365 ?
Because for 3 days this would mean it totals to only around £35 incl cancellation charge

Make sure that they are aware that you are not the owner or registered keeper as if you prang it you might find that they void the policy.

Be careful with the owner-keeper and what other policies are on the car. I think that could be why you got refused with the day cover firms.

If you have your own policy maybe give the insurer a call and say your car needs some repairs and will in a garage for few days and can they cover you on the VW until the car is back. You will probably need to pay an admin fee and higher premium but you would be fully covered and above board.

Shouldn't be as the second policy isn't in place yet - hasnt been purchased

No
Essentially I want to drive my mum's car next weekend as we are going to London and she isn't too comfortable on motorways at night
She is fully comp insured on it, but I can't get added to her insurance temporarily as they won't allow it, and all of the temp cover websites don't like the car apart from the cuvva app which wants £77 for 2 days which is stupid money

So I'm trying to get temp insurance another way

Why don't you get an insurance broker to get you a quote?
I've tried confused.com temp cover search thing and only 1 company worked with a £120 premium lol

Is it worth ringing individual companies for this?

The problem with the temp cover is most likely becuase a policy is already in place. They will be refusing for a reason.

The problem with you buying another policy for the car is you don't have a claim to it.

Have a good read of the terms as you might not be covered bud.

On the admiral owned temp covers (veygo, admiral csi and cuvva) they state that there has to be already a main policy in place on the car for the temp cover to be valid

And that can come in many forms but the problem is who pays who and who has the right to make a claim. It could be because of who is underwriting. You're being refusing for a reason. Takes a lot for an insurance firm to refuse money.

How old are You? Had any accidents?

TBH the £77 quote is a bargain just considering the total loss liability on the car. I wouldn't take on circa 25K TL liability for a weekend for £77.
