Leather or cloth seats ?

The leather seats in my dads old Mk1 Rover 800 are so comfy! I mean, the seats swallow you whole!

My car has pretty nice half-leather sports seats with side supports. Very comfy and the leather is in the right place :D No sweaty **** for me.

Still, if I could chose anything, it would definitely be a mix of leather and alcantara.

alcentara is amazing!

I'm not so keen on just leather...cant stand getting hot and sweaty on hot days in my car.

Having said that, aircon'd leather, so I've heard, is very nice indeed.

Never had a problem with leather in summer in a BMW which has climate control! They are hot for about 30 seconds until the interior of the car becomes cool!

Depends on what car I have I spose, currently I have a sporty car so cloth/alcantara is the best option imo, although I wouldn't want the entire seat done in alcantara tbh, prefer the centres to be a bit more breathable if not A/C'ed.

I'm sure at a later date when I opt for more luxury and I don't drive so quick A/C'ed full leather will be my preferred option.

EDIT...just seen Sams reply...I agree with him :D

Yea, it comes as standard with the Mondeo Ghia X - the leather is air conditioned.

which ones ?
mk 1 2 or 3 ?

I have just bought some full electric leather seats from a mk1 and i will be well chuffed if they are air conned as well, although i can see your answer not being the one i want to hear :p

What are the best products to look after leather car seats?

I don't know tbh as I have someone else valet my car these days but in the 11, near 12 years that have passed since I posted that, probably still something by Meguiars or leathermaster.

Wow though that's some necro.....pre smart phone era effort.

I really dont like leather seats, just dont like the feel of them. Much prefer cloth, purposely dropped a trim level on my current car to avoid leather.

( Carlsberg engineered the OC thread search mechanism - if only more knew how to use it ?)

Leathermaster protection cream (>10years) great for suites too, definitely NOT the autoglym stuff .. but I have only ever used two.
- typically do a plain bar of soap, water light scrub first

I prefer Leather over cloth as long as you have aircon too

though IMO Alcantara beats them both by a mile , hard wearing , easy to clean , looks good and no sweaty arse :p

This, exactly my favourite
Although I would say, tt depends on the car, if its a premium car with a long lifecycle go leather, or if you have kids, far easier to clean up sticky paws etc with leather

I've been backwards and forwards across them all and always go back to half leather being the best. new car coming soon, alcantra half leather, win! Best bet its the standard as well so didn't even cost a premium

I used to like leather because it's the "premium". But to actually use, cloth is a way better material and it also wears much better (it doesn't stretch, dry up and crack or go shiny/slippery). It keeps a steady temperature too. Look at any modern racing seat they are all cloth.

My current car is alcantara which is kinda the best of both. I wouldn't have bare leather again.
