I'm looking at buying a 1070 Ti. There's one here at OcUK that's the cheapest I've seen anywhere - a Palit 1070 Ti "Twin X2" for £410. I looked for a review of it, found what I initially thought was one and was very pleased at the cooling+noise results...then I noticed that the search engine's results were, let's say "speculative", and it wasn't actually the card I was looking for a review of.
The Palit 1070 Ti Twin X2 being advertised here looks exactly the same as the Palit 1070 Ti Dual on Palit's page, so I'm pretty sure that's what it actually is.
The card in the review (and every other review of a Palit 1070 Ti I can find) is a Palit 1070 Ti Super Jetstream.
Same card, different cooler. Standard for Palit, as far as I know. Three different coolers for each model to further differentiate them...and Dual is the bottom one.
So...what I want to know is how the three Palit coolers compare - Dual, Jetstream and Super Jetstream. My search skills have failed me, but the details I can find imply that the Dual is significantly worse than the other two, with an inferior cooler and inferior fans.
I did find a review of the Palit 1070 Dual, which I'm pretty sure is exactly the same cooler. The reviewer thought it was far too noisy, but they were clearly even fussier than I am about noise so I'd like more opinions and preferably some measurement and like for like comparisons. That review did tell me something useful though - it's apparently easy to change the fans on Palit's Dual cooler.
I could buy a Palit 1070 Ti Super Jetstream for £420 from somewhere else. I'd usually definitely pay £10 more for the better cooler, but I would prefer to buy from OcUK rather than from some place I don't know. If the Dual isn't all that much worse, I'll probably go with that.
Best case scenario would be OcUK sourcing a Super Jetstream version and selling it for close to the other place's price.
Well, no. Best case scenario would be someone paying me to have a 1080 Ti because the box was taking up space they wanted. But that's a little further removed from the realms of the plausible
