My best friend dropped dead last night at the age of 32

Devastating news, feel gutted for you and all people who have to go through this kind of experience and their seems to be a growing number lately. Chin up life goes on..

If you are under 35 the charity C-R-Y (https://www.c-r-y.org.uk/) do heart screenings and they are very often free.

I had one over the summer (alongside my siblings) because of a history of heart problems in the family.

Thanks for this - my wife and I are now booked in to be screened.

@OP - I'm 30 and i've lost 5 friends, my first at 16 years old. It never leaves you but you learn to deal with it and use it. I use it as motivation and genuinely credit it for one of the reasons I am where i am today. I think to myself, 'those guys died and didnt get a chance, so i need to take their chance for them' - the thing i'd want from my death is for it to do some good, and i think thats what you have to take from it. If you friend died from a cardiac episode and as a result 500 people got screened and lives were saved then thats a hell of a legacy. My thoughts are with you at this time though, remember the Churchill quote: "If you're going through hell, keep going".

If theres one thing I've taken from this thread it is to get myself looked at, I've just turned 30 and I'm not in great shape at all... time to tackle it!

At 30 I was smoking, drinking doing other things and gaming all the time. In bad shape basically. Now I'm in my 40's, I have a physique that I wished I'd had when I was younger. It's no easy task to get into shape when you're older but I@m in better shape now than I was when I was in my 20's.

DO IT!

That's the thing, being lazier and a desk jockey at work isn't helping. But you know when you go from 12 - 16 stone in 4 years and your heart races after running up the stairs, its not a good sign haha.

Tempted to buy a bike... I've never been one for running unless its football (takes your mind off the fact youre running)

Sorry to hear!:(

Op be strong life goes on.

The old saying "Live everyday like its your last, as one day it will be"

Support friends and family involved. ;)

Life is so scary but also beautiful.
Im 51 and now seem to go to more funeral than wedding.
Sorry to hear about people's losses.

The funeral is this coming saturday. I will be there, as I hope will all her friends. The burial is being kept to family only. That kind of bothers me but of course it's not my decision to make.
I just hope the funeral isn't open casket. I can't deal with that. I don't want to see another loved one dead. Seen too many. It haunts me.

My daughter just tried to kill herself. I am beside myself with grief and I have come here to seek solace. I'm probably in a darker place than you guys but this guy above me, he needs a hug.
stay strong buddy, can only imagine what its like to have your little girl threaten to do such a thing.
