Chinese high climbing daredevil loses his grip.

I'm not a fan of heights because while very high up you are always very close to certain death, as this man unfortunately proved. You only get one life and it seems wasteful to throw it away like that.

One of the most amazing & sickening things I've seen recently is a couple hanging over a cliff edge on a thin rope and having full on sex.
Sickening because every move up & down I think the rope is going to break.

climbing ropes can usually handle a way bigger load than that tbh...

He walked up all those stairs then thought to himself "yes, I know what I'll do immediately when I get to the top, I'll dangle off the edge and practice pull-ups".

He managed 3 pull-ups before you can see the very moment panic sets in and he couldn't do any more. If he had just dangled for a few seconds instead of trying to pull himself back up and losing strength, he /may/ have been able to gain some energy to fully pull himself back up.

Shame.

Edit*

Heights are fuel for adrenaline.

We did this on top of a cooling tower of a power plant a few times:

But probably the most exhilarating one was climbing the Blackfriars Tower scaffolding and crane as it was still being built. The view from that right on top of the crane was outstanding. The crane wobbles from side to side every now and then as the wind up there mashes against it. People call it stupid, and maybe it is, but as long as you know your limits then it's a blast of an experience.

I won't link to the video, the UK mainstream media has it up, it's not particularly grizzly, just a guy losing his grip and falling 40 stories to I guess an appointment with the tarmac. It all happened off camera except the first 3m or so of "whoops"
So having just read the news report, it says he only fell 45 feet, and died of injuries from the fall. Typical stupidly dramatic journalism, he fell from the top of a 62 storey building, but only fell 45 feet. He landed on a terrace which would also explain why he wasn't found straight away.

Saw this on another site - as someone who is scared to death of heights, it made me feel nauseous even though it turns out he ‘only’ fell 40-odd feet.

I suppose it’s like racing drivers or any other kind of adrenaline junkie - at least they died doing what they enjoyed or what excited them. Beats rotting away from cancer in a hospital bed ...

Now Darwin award aside, yes a man died, but, huge but, what a total moron.

A little unsympathetic. People have been doing stunts and death defying feats for all of history. High-wire acts, trapeze artists, knife-throwers. Yes, a career as an accountant is probably safer (unless you're working for the cartels), it's not exactly new. And it's not as if regular mountaineering etc. is risk free. Could show a little more compassion.

Eversince these gopro idiots started sharing their death defying, sometimes, feats I've strangely wanted one to fall off. I doubt I'm alone with this sick and twisted fantasy.

Alone? No, there are others out there I'm sure. But sick minority, yeah that's you.

I just wish it was a Russian if I'm totally honest.

Christ, what a sick piece of filth you are to wish death on people because of their race or country. No wonder I so often find the content of your posts so disgusting.

I suspect its because the attitude typical with the Russians who do this stuff on camera who make up a good percentage that do it rather than tagging in some hatred of Russians particularly.

And based on previous discussions Efour has been involved in, I'd say not. And I don't see it as mitigating if that is there reason.

Lol what the hell?
Read the thread then apologize.
Well whatever it honestly means nothing to me what you have constructed what you think you know about me.

Actually if you can be bothered, I don't think I could tbh, link me to stuff I've written that gives you your opinion on me, it would be very interesting. Ofc like I said I really couldn't be bothered if it was reversed. I just find it semi fascinating.

I do get banned once every 6 months for cracking jokes that offend admins though so who knows?

Have to wonder if the need for these kind of thrills is due to something missing in their lives... Most of us have self preservation that stops us doing these crazy things, but then again most of us don't want to do it, or can get sufficient excitement elsewhere.

I just wonder what makes a person think that the best way to feel good is to always be putting their lives on the line. Does it suggest a lack of respect for their own life? I can't get my head around it.

Not a chance of survival. From that height, water is like concrete when you hit it. I would put here survival chances at approx 0.000001%

Whilst I see your point, I remember a Mythbuster that said this was a fallacy spread by general myth. They showed that from atop a hotel into a pool, you would survive with very few injuries and that it would be similar for any height, given that you feel in feet first, whilst falling in at any direction would be better than ground, it would be worse, face first obviously.

Its pretty high tbh, she will enough time to accelerate to lethal speeds, regardless if its water.

FYI the Golden gate bridge is 75 Meters above the water, apparently the survival rate for jumping off it is 2%

I can't refute that but I would say most of them die from the water temp, plus drowning from shock of hitting the water. None the less 2% is better than 0% the poor Chinese guy had.
I can only image the feeling of the sudden realisation that things were basically over. Must be horrible.

Nice photo, I don't think it is stupid at all. Silly think is if you posted a photo on say Instagram/facebook of you stood on top of some peak in the alps, or on some narrow ridge etc.. then it would be seen as far less controversial even though the risks taken to get there could have been similar.
