Best xmas present haul you ever had

A quick google shows me that between 1991-93 I got the Hornby Red Star Courier train set, must have been closer to 1993 as I would have been too young otherwise.

I couldn't believe my luck, played with it for years after. Every christmas apart from that has been distinctly standard.

The year I upgraded to an N64 and goldeneye.

Will always remember playing for around 5 hours only to have a power cut!

Growing up Santa was always very good to me and my sister. Every year was great, but the year I got the N64 will always stick in my mind.

I think it was on boxing day we took the trip to Gameplay to go spend some of my Xmas money and ended up getting Diddy Kong racing!

What a game that was, the year we got an N64 must be right up there in my favourite Christmas memories.

I remember a Christmas where I'd asked for an original Gameboy, I really wanted a MegaDrive but I was told it was too much money. I got a MegaDrive with two controllers, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe and Sonic. An amazing day.

Years and years before that, when He-Man was a thing (I know, I'm old). I remember getting about 50 He-Man figures of various types, it was figure after figure. Probably two of my best Christmas' ever.

Remember seeing the big He-Man toy shelf/corner in stores?

How does this make you feel...

I was always told the presents I wanted were too expensive, but they’d invariably turn up on Christmas Day.

Well of course. They weren’t going to say you’re not getting it.

Sadly I never did get Boulder Hill and Rhino from M.A.S.K. :(

I had a Flying Scotsman + carriages, didn't do anything other than go round in an oval but loved it. I once got a Scalextric car set that was awesome.

Can't think of anything else its been so long since I was surprised and delighted by an xmas present its either a complete disappointment or its something I basically ordered for myself "what do you want for christmas"?!

Either:

Lego pirate ship (late 80’s).
Megadrive - first experience with a console or computer of any kind (early 90’s).
Technic crane truck combo thing (early/mid 90’s).
Half-life 1 - mind blown 1998

Atari 400
Atari Tape Deck
Atari BASIC
Atari Star Raiders
Atari Galaxians

I think my parents must haven given up buying anything all year to afford that lot in 1980

I distinctly remember waking up to a pile of presents taller than myself. Yet for many years we didn't even have carpet or a tv. My parents were young and had many clear drunken differences that were extreme but they always loved me and spoilt me really.

The carpet thing vs me receiving amazing things like a Megadrive (when there was eventually a TV) etc always stuck with me. When I turned 13 I asked the local pub/restaurant owner of I could work for her (cash in hand on the quiet) in the kitchen and since then any major thing I wanted I bought myself. Always been employed since then pretty much but will always appreciate how much I came first in my parents lives.

Just my mum left now, no other family worth a mention. My dad passed away last year at 58 so Christmas isn't really a thing anymore. We don't really care. Just gonna hang out together with the dogs, she'll go ride her horse and then we'll eat, drink and reminisce.

I can't wait to have kids of my own and be a proper family again, share the kindness and wisdom my parents showed me despite their major flaws.

Good memories of getting these with my brother on different Christmases.

Spectrum 128k
Sega Master System
Skalextrix (how I used to spell it)
Snooker table
Street Fighter 2
Zelda Ocarina of Time

Rubber keyboard ZX Spectrum 48k. I was 13 and I don't think I'd ever been that excited...until I plugged it in and it didn't work.

Asked parents if they got it from Rumbelows, a sheepish yes came from my mother. I lost it and stomped up to my bedroom. From best to worst xmas in 5 minutes. I am still reminded of that hissy fit to this day :D

I got a Sega Saturn in 97 I think, very unexpected and was thrilled!
Also the year I got scalextric, must have been around 94 I think, so many hours spent with that and we’ve still got it up in the loft at my folks!

What was that bike which used to make sounds? I think it was a wolf bike or something? It was black. Never had one but I recall somebody else getting one as a present.
