Given my commute of 40 mins of motorway and A-road queues, I'd rather splash out on options and comfort than a better engine, all other things being equal.

exactly........ it may as well be the exact opposite of what i have now...... and it'll be mainly for the summer only, something i can modify and work on that'll keep me interested !
 
I'd look at Jag F Type R, R8, whatever 911 and probably Nissan GTR. I quite like the thought of an R8.

I get 400 fairly regularly in a 2.0TFSI Octavia, are you exclusively driving 4 Litre V8s or something? :p
 
Porsche Cayman or Boxster depending on how I felt after a test drive. I'm assuming this would be a second car as I already have access to another vehicle.

I've always wanted to own a Porsche. I've considered leasing too but it's just still too expensive.

I'm actually mulling over a Fiat 124 Spider or a Mazda MX-5. Do I lease or purchase?

Wife has her eye on another expensive holiday though.
