What time do you open Christmas presents?

Immediately on waking up. Kids didnt do too badly, told them to stay in bed till its light as Santa might still be around, they got up at 7.30. :)

Well my family hold an Christmas Eve get together, so we opened my family side then. Had more to open at home today though.

Don't like getting out of bed early to open them, so I like a cuppa tea in bed before I decide to get up. Daughter is happy, so that makes me happy.

When the kid was small it was really early Christmas day (like a minute after midnight early!) now he's a lot older we opened them just after mid day. It's not really exciting once your kids have grown up.

Back home when we did put some effort into that we didn't open the presents until late afternoon after we had had dinner and (most often) seen the Disney/Donald Duck stuff on tv at 3pm.

Since having a kid:

We do a small number of presents Christmas Eve early evening which normally involve a classic kids game (think buckaroo or kerplunk), New pyjamas and a movie. We play a couple of rounds of the new game and watch the movie whilst sitting in our new pj’s before the kid goes to bed at 7:30:8:00.

Christmas Eve after the kid has gone to bed normally involves a few brandies, a coupe of vodkas and the classic Christmas movie Die Hard, plus a random movie pick (this year my wife picked Man on Fire, I was gunning for commando but got outvoted......somehow??!!???!!)

Christmas Day morning we wake up anywhere between 8:00 and 10:00 and the kid opens his ‘santa’ stocking in his room. We normally sit on the bedroom floor and see what Santa has brought him.

Breakfast and then main presents, before heading over to my folks for dinner.

6am, my daughter opens hers, and I open some small ones.
While I'm at work they open the rest of theirs.
When I get home from work I open my main ones.

Christmas work sucks.

Straight after waking on Christmas eve (German heritage) but save my partner's and the in laws on Christmas day. Much more fun over 2 days imo :D

  1. Get up and make a small breakfast (9/10am)
  2. Open presents that we got each other whilst eating breakfast
  3. Load up the car with presents and make the journey to the mother-in-law's
  4. Have lunch around 2pm
  5. Watch kids open their presents around 3pm
  6. Head back home around 6pm
  7. Put my daughter to bed approx 9pm
  8. Stay up and watch a film with a drink

We have breakfast and prepare the food for later. Then, before we watch a film and drink wine, we open presents.

usually a few at different times throughout the day to spread it out, but definitely saving most for the evening after a big meal, lovely to sit around with mulled wine and hand out gifts :)
