Ep5 Trailer - Back to the fake "scripted" crap that people were complaining about in Ep4.

It's a massive shame that TGT decided to deliberately misinterpret the word "scripted" in Ep4 rather than realise that it's this sort of fake crap which turns people away, not their version of "scripted"

Might turn you away, but its stuff like that I find the best to watch.

It is an entertainment show, I want to be entertained, not sit and watch factually correct programming.

Anyone with half a brain cell knows that scenes are setup deliberately to entertain, having real world situations is not funny.

Look at the Patagonia adventure, 95% of the programme was awesome and funny and interesting, like the river crossing where just there happened to be a flat bed lorry available for Clarkson and May, but when Hammond had to cross a JCB towed him through and his car got flooded.

The real world un-scripted part of seeing them holed up out of sight in a hotel, or having the vehicles stoned as they fled the country was not interesting to me in the slightest.

Indeed and i have no idea why we're all still talking about it, they've been doing it for over a decade now.

As an example of what I consider to be "fake" from the trailer is the smashing a tank through a shopping centre (no issue with that, it's entertaining) but that they had to have fake customers walking around to act scared as if was "real".

But those "customers" walking round looking scared is a big part of what makes it funny and entertaining, and semi realistic.

Everybody watching knows damn well it is not real though, and that it is all setup.

If it was very obviously a built set with cardboard walls and either mannequins dotted around, it takes all the fun and entertainment out of it in my view.

You just really hate fictional TV programmes and movies in general. What did you think about the latest James Bond movie? I heard it was all fake

Maybe he wants to return to the days when the reviews on TG talked about the boot, how much space it had, and a description of how you dropped the rear seats and how that changed the space available, that sort of thing ;)

It was enthralling TV, literally "you could not miss". No I lie, it really wasn't interesting

Skip to about 4 minutes for the boot review for example.

Yeah, they knew how to keep us entertained in the good old days of top gear ;)

My fave review was the Fiesta with the shopping centre chase and the beach assault. Remember seeing that, which was a genuine dig at complaints they no longer review regular cars, but they took it and ran with it and having a good laugh when it first aired.

I'm not overlay taken with GT. It's premise to me was the hope it was a season full of TG style specials, but it's just much short of the mark sadly plus it's all been done now.

It was never ever going to be that though.

Amazon bought what they thought was Top Gear, a tried and tested product that pulled in ratings and revenue, they were never going to alter it that much, from the system that had a proven track record.

Yep, but they have basically taken it back to mid-late 00s Top Gear which was the best era. That's what people wanted, so they delivered.

Please don't drag this down to those childish levels with silly comments like that @Jez

@Entai - The above Corvette driving through a shopping centre clip show above is good example of when they didn't have to be the type of "fake" I dislike. There's no fake customers acting scared etc, it's just two cars allowed to run amok which is entertainment enough (and we all know it's fake) without resorting to the extra falseness of having people run around pretending it's all real.

@Mercenary Keyboard Warrior - The same comment above applies. I'm not after boring "boot measuring" TG, I'm after fun TG like the Fiesta/Corvette chase above rather than the same thing but with added "oh look, it's really happening, honest!!!!" by having fake customers react to it, or like the Hover-Van from TG which "blew away" a river-side party or in the Botswana episode managing to winch James Mays tent above a river without waking him etc or in other words trying to make obviously fake stuff look like it's real and genuine.

I dont understand your point, its obviously fake. Its scripted fictional TV designed to be a bit of a laugh of a weekend. Clarkson and co lark around and make stupid parodies of themselves and the situations, thats what the show is. If you wish for serious car reviews then there are tons of them all over the internet these days via mediums such as youtube.

Everyone is saying the same thing to you :p Is it actually turning viewers away btw? What are the viewing numbers this season?

This one is actually quite plausible based on things we were able to do to housemates back during the uni days :)

I just spent a hour writing, editing, rewording a nice reply about how opinion isn't fact and how just because we think differently thats not a bad thing but seriously, whats the bloody point in this place?

Can't quote on any of the others but as my wife's sister was at that party that got blown away, I can guarantee you that was not faked in the slightest.

Not too shabby episode tonight.

I’d love one of them tanks, could loads of fun in that!

Celeb bit **** as usual.

Scooby action is always nice to see, the outtakes bit was getting a bit boring in the end though.
