M&S cauliflower steaks

My girlfriend tells me Sainsbury's were selling these too but that doesn't fit into the middle-class baiting going on here (ooh M&S, how posh!).

Funnily enough I cooked a lovely roasted cauliflower and cashew nut biryani, as suggested by one of our forum members in the La Cuisine forum. Damn good it was too.

I think it has less to do with that and more to do with its £2 price tag for a sliver of cauliflower when a whole cauliflower is like £1 and takes a few seconds to slice it.

I thought "Quorn fillet" was taking the Mickey but in all fairness they work well, especially in curries. This is quite clearly a pee-take.

Steak=meat. End of.

I find it cringeworthy to go past a vegetarian (looking at you especially quorn) section and see most of it modelled on meat products and copying the name.

grrrr, mps criticise excess packaging, then do your job and pass laws to tax waste, then manufacturers would ensure as little as possible.

YES YES YES YES YES.

The amount of packaging these days is disgusting.

Tell you what I'd rather have 20 staff manning a huge fresh meat counter where you walk up like a butchers and ask for your product.

50% of the time I'm shopping as a single bloke when I'm away from the other half and the amount of food I end up throwing away due to it going off is unreal. If I could walk up and ask for 1 of this and 1 of that instead of having to buy multipacks all wrapped in plastic it would be amazing.

But the amount of plastic packaging with everything is just unreal now, spend more of my time unwrapping things that food prepping.

Don't get Cauliflower its bland and looks weird - at least it doesn't taste as foul as say Parsnips though. Though weirdly Horseradish (as a dressing, etc.) I quite like but the smell and taste of Parsnip makes me want to throw up.

Personally though don't care about these "steaks" if there is a market for it and people who are prepared to pay meh don't see what the fuss is about as long as they aren't forcing it on people at the expense of other alternatives.
