Never done it but need to do it on a Newhome 550 sl dlm gas cooker (single width) with bottom oven and top oven/grill and hobs.

What's the best way to clean it? Got some Mr Muscle oven cleaner and can see basically coat the inside of the oven, leave it 20 mins with door open, then wipe clean with cloths/blue roll etc. Obviously making sure you have gloves and arms covered as nasty stuff by the sound of it.

Anything I need to watch out for besides the gas nozzles which I won't clean.

I was told to watch out for cleaning the sides as some cookers it reacts? How do I know if I can do this?

Also it says to turn off the electric and do it on a cold oven? Cold is easy as do not use but do I need to turn the electric off as it's a gas oven?

I very much doubt you'd affect the electrics but always a good idea to unplug or isolate at mains. It may have catalytic liners these have a sand paper type feel to them, usually just on sides although can be top and back as well.
Oven pride do a cleaner that comes with a bag, God knows what's in it but it does an amazing job.

Is this the stuff that comes in the box with the big plastic bag? Best stuff I’ve used. I’ve never turned my oven off, I turn the oven light on to see what I’m doing.

Coat the inside with the gel, strip as much as possible from the inside and chuck it in the bag before hand and then chuck what’s left of the gel in there as well. Enamel stuff might get discoloured from it in my experience.

This stuff is caustic. It turns your flesh to soap pretty much if you get it on your skin.

Ive used that. Proper nasty stuff but it strips the crap out of the oven very well!

Get a box of oven pride. Racks go in a bag with half the bottle and the other half to smear on the inside of the oven. Works brilliantly

Aye, Oven Pride, that’s the stuff, comes in an orange box.

Strips carbonised grease off your oven, and also your skin off your body.

You can use steel wool to clean racks and a ceramic scraper to clean gunk off oven glass door . Baking soda vinegar then for the internals. Avoids the nasty chems but yes a bit more elbow grease.

Lemons in half a bowl of water is supposed to be good for degreasing the oven, dunno about that but they are good for getting rid of the smell of Mr muscle after a clean

Another vote for oven pride.

I strip out any parts I can possibly remove and put them in the bag. Once the cleaner has done it's job and I've rinsed it off I run everything through the dishwasher on it's hottest cycle to make sure all traces of it are gone.

Just spray on the Mr muscle, wait, the scrub away with a brush and wipe away the residue. Do thus twice and you'l have a lovely clean oven. Don't need gloves with Mr muscle, well I never have.

Racks just bung in the dishwasher after.

Oven pride again. But for £60 you can get it professionally cleaned, must admit I do this, worth every penny! :p

Getting somebody out this time. With the chemicals involved about melting skin etc I have nice tattoos on my arms so not worth it lol.

Also as it's 1st time it's been done it will give me somewhere fresh to start from. I clean hobs, microwave etc and simply never thought to clean cooker. *Shrugs* *single man*.
