January Transfer Window 2017/18

Fair points, I suppose we'll see what happens. There are murmurs now that Mkhitaryan has an agreement with Arsenal and things are moving along, but nothing concrete at the moment.

is he any good? Mkhitaryan ?

Potentially, yes, but he's been massively inconsistent and goes missing more often than not. If Wenger can get him playing at his best he could be very good.

From The Times:
Exclusive: Mino Raiola, Mkhitaryan's agent, tells @thetimes: “Manchester United is not going to sign Sánchez unless Mkhi agrees to join Arsenal."

He adds: “Sánchez is part of the Mkhi deal, not the other way around."

Raiola basically saying if Sanchez and his agent are getting **** off signing on fees then I want some too.
So are Arsenal going to make or lose money from the deal?

Who knows but you couldn't argue if you ended up paying Utd a fee on top of Sanchez. Sanchez has 4 months left of playing time on his contract - even if he's a better player than Mkhitaryan, it's hard to argue he has a greater transfer value.

Absolutely, I was expecting to get nothing in a few months so won't complain at all and as I've said before he'll be better than all of what's left in the Arsenal midfield when Ozil leaves too. Just there's been a lot of talk about it but not so much about values.

Apparently we're in for Aubameyang and he's handed in a transfer request too but I would be amazed if he chooses to come us. Until Wenger has gone though I really don't think it will matter who we get in.

It doesn't appear like you have much competition on the Aubameyang front. And if the Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan links are anything to go by, it's possible that you're already seeing a shift away from Wenger. Haven't you recently appointed some chief scout/sporting director type that previous worked under Michael Zorc at Dortmund, who brought both these players to Dortmund.

That's pretty surprising if so as his scoring record is pretty amazing. Yeah we have a new scouting type person although I'm not really sure what his job role entails. I'm resigned to having Wenger in charge at least until his contract expires in 18 months and wouldn't be surprised if it got extended then.

His goalscoring record is great but nobody has moved for him in these last few years. I mentioned it the other day, despite Arsenal, Utd, Chelsea and to a lesser extent City all being in the market for a striker, nobody moved for him. You have to ask why and supposedly he's got a terrible attitude. I guess Arsenal are more willing to gamble now given the position they find themselves in and the desperate need to replace Sanchez.

The new guy is Sven Mislintat. He left Dortmund for us. He was responsible for the scouting and signing of many of Dortmund’s greatest players like Hummels, Lewandowski, Kagawa, Gundogan, Aubameyang, Dembélé and more. He was also trying to bring in Malcom to Dortmund to replace Dembélé after he left for Barca. Sven obviously knows his stuff.

We also have another guy who worked for Barca at transfer negotiations and is supposed to be one of the worlds best at getting them over the line. Things certainly look better for us on that front now.
