always interested in how people with kind of disposable have earned their cash, what do you do? if it isnt too intrusive... how old are you? do you have a bunch of other toys/houses/whatever already? most people with that kind of cash on hand have already got a seriously expensive lifestyle.

Cryptocurrency trading. Luck and a bit of skill. I think this car thread is just excitement... :p

Prefer Fruit salads personally. All the best with the car hunt.

Me too... but I couldn't remember what they were called... so just said blackjacks as I remembered that name...

surely a great house would come first

That would be next... really love where I'm renting at the moment, in no rush to move, plus it will probably take a while to build the house.

Good job covers my daily basics like food and housing.

The real money has been made by trading though... started with FOREX, still do FOREX... then lately I've been day trading cryptocurrencies as well which has shown really absurd percentage gains.

wow. gl with that at the moment! still be interested in the journey.

I was happy with the correction over the last few days... I was able to make money on it going down too... broker trading lets you place sell orders which basically means you're trading the pair in reverse.

IE...
trade BTCUSD (1BTC = XUSD) on a buy order and you're effectively buying BTC with a view to it's value relative to USD increasing.
trade BTCUSD on a sell order and you're effectively buying USD in relation to BTC with a view to being able to buy more BTC with the same volume of USD.

You can't do that kind of sell order trading so easily with crypto exchanges... although I do try to play the ratio between BTC and the altcoin to maximise profits... but usually there I'm just trying to increase the number of BTC I have.

So if you catch the right order at the right time... you can make money when the graph is going in either direction.

I still do FOREX... the returns are good, just slower... a little while ago I decided to take some of my held BTC, stick it in a crypto exchange and use the same rules to play the day trading game to see if I could manage it. Doing well so far... 24 wins, 1 loss since the start of December.

I've been sharing details of my decision making process / strategies and buy/sell points in the Crypto forum on here... some people have made some good profits off my tips which is great... haven't had anyone complain that I've given them bad advice yet... hope it continues.

but surely if your holding BTC, unless you bought it at a much lower value then your effectively losing money? i guess if the objective is to just buy more BTC then fine, but surely you would be tempted to liquidate. i dida bit of "trading" aka speculating before xmas and made about 1.5k off 1k invested. my cash is sitting on the exhange in euros currently.

Even at the low point of the last couple of days... my held BTC is worth more than 6x what I paid for it.

I mined some and bought more.

If I'd cashed it out at the peak and bought more at the low... that would have increased that hold, sure... but that's not what I doing with the hold... it's longer term.

That's what I'm doing with my trading accounts, however.

It's an additional investment... diversification is important... even if some investments grow slower than others. Always good to mitigate risk, sticking all your eggs in one basket is asking for trouble, no matter how much growth potential you think something has.

this is starting to go too off topic

Great thread. Love the bit earlier about selling a few Bitcoins to get a GT3. Good luck to you. Don't be the "greatest fool".

noble M600

Mmmmmm... tasty... I had forgotten about them... must investigate.

BAC Mono called me to say the test session had to be cancelled as there are some works going on at Silverstone. They offered an alternate at Cadwell Park, but I ended up cancelling... for that type of car, after today's visit... I'm going to go the Radical route.

Had a visit to Radical today... got the factory tour... damn I love these things. The V8 is a work of art:

Test days haven't been booked yet, but sales guy is going to call me to test the SR3, SR8 & RXC Spyder.

Going to have to deal with trailering it as one of my questions was how the road-going variants affect handling as I suspected an increased ride height and they confirmed it... best to stick to track-only and trailer it.

I have always loved the SR8, but apparently even with their quietest exhaust, they hit 105dB drive by... so it's difficult to take on a lot of track days.

If I take my ARDS course though, I can go to test days instead.

But... the RXC with the 3.5tt v6 is much quieter... so can visit more tracks.

That might sway my decision.

I'd assume with something like the SR8 you'd only want to do test days anyway unless you book the track privately - on a normal track day you'd just be getting held up every 2 seconds by slower cars.
