GPU prices go boom

Gamers aren't going to stop buying GPUs. It's nonsense to suggest they will. nVidia and AMD don't give one tiny **** whether they are selling to miners or gamers, as long as they are selling.

No-one actually believes nVidia's PR man when he trots out the line about gamers....do they?

It's nonsense to suggest that NVIDIA and AMD are so short sighted. You should stop watching all those conspiracy videos on youtube. It's warping your brain. Next you will think its all the work of the Illuminati, or aliens. Actually, come to think of it.....

Held off buying an RX480 when they launched as an upgrade for a 7950... Figured I'd give it 18 months and pick up something better for less. Big mistake! Any chance of picking up a 980ti for £250?

will amd and nvidia go bankrupt when the crypto currency craze bursts and gpu are flooded on the used market at prices slash by 60%

Depends. I guess the clever ones will keep their rigs and carry on mining, instead of cashing out they'll hold it all in the hope it all goes back up again, hence they'll be sitting pretty.

The ones who do badly out of crypto are the investors who can't afford to lose what they have put in so at the first sign of a drop they'll be scrabbling around trying to cash out, the others are the miners who instantly sell their gear once it looks like it's dead.

Ask any of the miners who packed it in last time ASAP, whether they wished they'd kept it all up and running during the quiet periods.

Not outside of the MM no.

I can sell my 980ti at this moment and make money on what I paid for it from OCUK 18 months ago.

It is not just GFX cards though. Memory as well. I sold 16GB DDR 3 today for £45 more than I paid for it.....

I wish I'd held my 4BTC instead of selling at £400 a go, didn't have any hardware to sell though as I made my coin without

I just popped into OCUK to look at the prices of cards from both manufacturers.

INSANE is the only word I can use. £299 for a 3GB 1060 and an RX570 4GB is the same....Hope this doesnt carry on for much longer as prices like these WILL kill PC gaming...stone dead in its tracks. I'd love to know how much the manufacturers are actually charging the Retailers for these cards....that would be interesting. Sad state of affairs I'm afraid. :(

I expect its entirely the retailers profiteering.
