What a **** (Delivery Driver)

So I'm sitting here watching a DPD Driver outside my house open the side door, look at the items (very large), starts writing something, walks to my door and just puts a note through saying tried to deliver. I immediately opened the door and asked what was going on and he said he had tried twice knocking and ringing the bell. I said you didn't because I've watched you from when you pulled up so I could help you.

Should I get him fired or poo through his letterbox the lying skank?

I would usually suggest dismemberment followed by the erasure of his family line and the sacking and salting of any physical holdings. Though I've recently been described as "a bit extreme".

Joking aside I'd contact the courier and retailer to advise them, it's a pain in the arse when drivers do this, especially if delivery is critical or you've waited in.

I'm curious, when you opened the door and challenged him, what were your expectations? were you expecting the chap to go 'fair cop guv'nor, the boxes were too heavy and I couldn't be arsed hauling them all the way up here'??

in regards what to do, would it sit easy on your conscience getting the chap the sack because he 'apparently' couldn't be bothered to deliver your parcels?
should your complaint be with dpd, perhaps it's the pressures forced upon their drivers that make them make these decisions in order to take home a respectable pay check each week/month?
or should you just go **** it, I got my stuff, life goes on.

edit: added the word apparently

At the same time, why is it acceptable for the driver to not actually do his job?

He's paid to do a job. He didn't do his job. Not sexygreys problem.

Can't really complain if you're sacked for not doing your primary task.

I would say however that some delivery drivers must end up with knackered backs/knees with the items they have to carry on the daily, I suppose it's on you though if you're not capable of doing the job.

What I would have expected from the driver in this situation, would be to leave the parcel in the van & come ring the bell. If there's an answer, then go and get the parcel to deliver it. If there's no answer, he can then write a note.

This guy obviously just didn't want to try to deliver. I don't know if that's because of DPDs unrealistic expectations, or the driver's incompetence/laziness, but I would still complain to DPD about it.

I had a similar thing with royal mail a few times. I returned home just as the postman left the note, and I asked for the parcel only to be told he didn't have it, and it was back at the sorting office. I complained to RM because of that, but I doubt they actually did anything about it.

I wonder how much time limit they have per delivery.
maybe it's really strict and the poor guy is struggling to keep up being new to the job or something.

Royal mail are useless in my experience these days.

always getting letters for the houses beside me... had loads of small amazon untracked packages go missing probably stolen by a neighbour who had them delivered in error
