Exactly, I have a 1080 that I use in a gaming machine and that cant touch the 1070 Ti for mining.

Around 1500h/s cryptonight or 70mh/s ethash. There are plenty of benches online

I don’t think you can, but mining software would give you a indication.

In what world is the 1070 TI a mid range card? Overclocked it's on par with the 1080 benchmark wise and at £440, considerably cheaper. Mid range is 1060 I'd say...

Doesn't make a major difference unless Nvidia and AMD produce more chips. They don't profit from retailers marking up prices, only from selling the GPUs to board partners.
