Monster Hunter World (PS4, XB1, PC)

How good is this game as single player or with randoms? Mainly because none of my friends have a PS4, never mind this game.

I've never played a Monster Hunter. Playing it solo/randoms/a friend. Great fun. Serious time sink.

There's plenty who play it on here so you could easily add people. PSN Puki85

I've just started using the long sword. That vertical jump and slice is visually spectacular.

Well, I’ve not bought it yet but always intrigue what this series is about as I’ve heard a lot of things about it in the past and this is meant to be the best one so far.

I want to play it whilst there are lots of online players playing, whilst I do have a backlog of games such as Persona 5, Nier Automata and even go as far back as Witcher and MGS5...they don’t rely on an online community.

I wouldn't worry about the online aspect. It's designed so that you can play the game completely solo or with others. To be honest whilst I've killed plenty of monsters with others there's something about tracking , learning and preparing then soloing a monster. The formula is addictive.

When grinding for something specific I jump into other people's games. When you go hunt you can keep it open or closed with a password.

In any moment if you need help you fire an SOS and others join to the rescue.

I haven't got to end game yet but I've been told the difficulty ramps up.

I do the same. I am tracking through the main story and joining with others when I want to farm mats for armor sets. If the monster is too much for me I'll send an SOS during the quest. Works really well.

Me and two friends just defeated anjanath. Christ we struggled. Fainted and failed the quest like 6 or 7 times. Totally badass.

First time we’ve really struggled to kill a monster :D brilliant.

Just started playing this , absolutely love the world they've created , reminds me when I watched avatar for the first time !

Any guides out there on weapons and combos ? Want to try master the glaive is it ?

I have had no luck with any sort of multiplayer yet :/. On xb1. When I load it up it asks if I want to find an online game or create one. Finding one always fails so I have to launch an empty one by myself to start playing. Then every now and then I've fancied trying the SOS flare just to get a taste of multiplayer but nothing happens, I'll launch it and kill the monster on my own with no sign of anyone turning up?

Is it borked or am I!

When you get him to his second phase hard head fire breathing freak he can really mess you up fast. Amazing fun when you get there but yeah I struggled against anjanath as well.

From what I've seen, Arekkz Gaming does some of the better introductions to the weapons and their combos.

I had some really good fun hunting over the weekend with a few random people, decided to switch to the longsword for a little while to practice with a different move set.
Think I'll either try the glaive or one of the slow heavy weapons next.

I've watched a good few - this guy's my fave atm, although he hasn't done everyone weapon yet:

My love for the hammer is now almost unconditional :)

Just watched the one for the glaive it seems pretty in depth and I never half the stuff he was saying about it , including the insect that comes with that weapon which is cool ... there's a crazy amount of depth to the weapons , hopefully get some time tonight to jump back in and go hunting :D
