I've budgeted for £500-£600 and no more than that. Why you gotta add that extra £25?If the launch price of the Ampere XX80 is around £625 who is interested in getting one?
Said it before and say it again HBM2 is just not fast enough for gaming cards.
Even if I give the memory on my Titan V a big overclock (from 850mhz to 1066mhz) it is still not fast enough to keep up. Yes you get massive bandwidth but that is not much use for lots of small chunks of gaming data which need raw clockspeed.
Hopefully Ampere/GDDR6 will make this obvious to the guys who are just about to criticise me for saying HBM2 is too slow.![]()
By the time the cards being released you can have saved up those extra £25, no ?I've budgeted for £500-£600 and no more than that. Why you gotta add that extra £25?![]()
Sure I could have saved up another £500-£600, doesn't mean I'm spending £1k no matter how much Haribo it may or may not come withBy the time the cards being released you can have saved up those extra £25, no ?![]()
With next gen gsync monitors going over the £1100 mark, and the new GPU prices well over the £800, doubt it will worth the upgrade.
1080Ti still cuts through at 2560x1440 for years to come, and for 4K consoles makes more sense, especially the XBOneX with the upcoming Samsung VRR TVs makes a far cheaper cheap and very good alternative.
You don't deserve to be on a computer enthusiast forum... go home and play with your consoles that have the graphical capability of a £500 PC...
He's not wrong, though. Prices are getting daft. Some of us have more than one expensive hobby lol

People can still be enthusiasts and not want to spend ridiculous amounts on their hobby.
2080Ti for me this time.
I mean literally what the hell is the point of hype and excitement if you can just walk into your local shop and buy the latest tech. I love the feeling of waiting to buy and snagging it at the exact second. I've never bought a single console or GPU any later than midnight on the day of release.

I can't see you building a better gaming PC for £400 to £500 especially with a RX580/GTX1060 alone costing well over £250 due to price hikes, and DDR4 price has gone up by 2 to 3 times.
The XBox One X,has a 2560 shader Polaris/Vega GPU with a 384 bit GDDR5 memory controller, and running at slightly lower clockspeeds. The GPU is probably faster than a RX580 or GTX1060 in reality.
