[H]ardOCP: GeForce Partner Program Impacts Consumer Choice

do you think another 970 product will release with the same issue again?

Likely not, but that's not the same thing as what you're talking about, people are kicking up a fuss over this GPP thing and nVidia will still follow through with it.

If you want a majority to kick off whenever there are anti-competitive practices then you're going to need a society that doesn't operate under capitalism.

if you don't care so much, why are you commenting on it? you have every right to do so dont get me wrong, but it seems rather pointless pointing out that you do not specifically care about this specific issue.

Well my argument is, does anyone actually really care what the GPP does ? I don't believe they really do. Ok one or two might, but that will generally be because they want to be seen as having morals, or are a staunch brand loyalist etc. The other 99.99% of the population will not really give a jot.

Let me give you an example. If nVidia have a card at £1000 and their GPP is unhealthy, I believe people will baulk at the price rather than the practice. Should the same GPP be in practice and the price of same card is say a more affordable £400. It will be snapped up. Proving it wont be GPP that will sway someones purchase, but the old age of how much does it cost. That's the same for AMD or for any other company.

people may not care now, but when a company goes under and all of a sudden prices rise to a rate that is beyond you and me because of potentially something like GPP, they will care and it will be to late.

making people aware of these types of issue that affect them on a daily basis is normally the way people do these sorts of things.

Yes but people choose to take the moral high ground in one area whilst completely going against it in others, chances are that every day you're supporting a business who doesn't compete in the fair manner you desire.

you keep talking about this moral high ground, can you give any specifics for example? sometimes through lack of understanding or choice or simply just not knowing you are doing so.

Let me ask you this.

Let's take Nike, with their allegedly child manufacturing plants, or clothing companies paying their workforce rice and a roof over their head to make clothes are your general background you dont see when walking into a store to make a purchase. If those Nike are £80 you may wait for a sale, but when they are reduced to £30, you'll buy. Wither they have been ethical or not, you'll not even think about it. Thats my point, no-one, including me will care, they will buy if their budget is right.

To answer your point. If that company or any other goes under, it wont be due to nVidia's GPP, nor will it be because that company has morals, it will be because they dont know how to play the game.

considering that there was a whole case against nike and we now all know about something that we previously didn't and it has been dealt with?, you kind of made my argument for me...

I don't keep talking about it, and if you can't reflect and see you're doing it then there's little point continuing this discussion. Each point you come back with isn't answering anything because really you've got very little to say.

Yes but people choose to take the moral high ground in one area whilst completely going against it in others, chances are that every day you're supporting a business who doesn't compete in the fair manner you desire.

Thats it in a nutshell, and thats my attitude. Everyone is at it. It doesnt make it right, but thats business.

Thats my argument too. Everyone is at it. If Nike have been illegal in what they do, then they SHOULD be charged for it. If nVidia are seen as doing any wrong doing with GPP then they will and should be charged for it.

My point still stands, everyone does it, no-one cares, thats the game. Your choice is not made on morals, its based on budget.

you do, you keep mentioning moral high ground, i am not taking any moral high ground, i am not really even being specific about GPP, i am talking in general about bad practices which has a relation to GPP. there is no way in life to be perfect in every way, but that does not mean we should not aspire to be better or have other companies behave better. you go on like i should absolutely take whatever comes my way because i have no choice, if you want to do that then good for you but that does not mean you get to dictate to me that i cannot make other people aware of it. and that is my point that you say i dont have.

I'm not saying at all you should just take whatever comes your way, quite the opposite, but your solution just seems to be "making noise".

You're quite evidently taking the moral high ground, you've given it away quite clearly in your final few sentences there. You're not making people aware of anything, they already know how it works.

see told you that you cared. :D:D:D it is you are right, however that doesn't mean people shouldn't try for change, ok not you or Ayahuasca or some others because you dont see a point but some of the others who do care about this such issue.

I can't speak for LambChop, but I do care for change, just not in the way you believe, where leaving a few posts on a forum where people are already aware of the issue is changing anything. You're not saying anything different to what has been said before or to a much wider audience.

i don't care what people think about me at all, i often argue against the norm. so again what is your reference for arguing moral high ground. your way of track, can we get back on subject?

You aren't even arguing against the norm though, read my reply above in response to you mentioning me not caring.
