Good post and spot on. I think the problem is, people are not making lots of noise and this is irritating to some. Most of the people I consider NVidia users through and through have said what a bad thing NVidia have done but because we can't see any alternative, will still buy NVidia. I feel if AMD did release a killer card, most of us enthusiasts would get one but personally I can't see that happen. Vega isn't faster than my current 1080Ti, nothing being mentioned from AMD, NVidia doing the Ray Tracing thingy (which looks awesome) on Volta and newer cards leaves us in a bit of a quandary! DO we buy lesser AMD cards because of politics? Or do we buy what works best for us and for want of a better term, 'bury our heads' in the sand?I'll be honest, I was considering getting a Turing gpu for my next upgrade as Vega is a little underwhelming and I don't have the faith AMD can improve significantly for next generation - it's barely quicker than my 1070 in my laptop, which is pretty depressing. However, the GPP is clearly an anti-competitive move and it's not something I feel like rewarding with my money, and I'm not even sure why nVidia think it necessary considering the market lead they have.
I can't put any blame on the AIBs that "choose" to sign up for it (not that they have much choice) so I'm not going to blacklist those as some have suggested. I mean, sure they could all band together and not sign up to the GPP - but we all know that all it would take is 1 of them to sign up and everyone else would be disadvantaged, so they really don't have any option. Having a quick scan through a few pages of the thread, it's nice to see no one is trying to claim the GPP as a positive thing so I'm not even sure how people are managing to make arguments in the thread defending nVidia here.. No one has said it's positive, but some people are refusing to admit it's a bad thing and heavily downplaying it? I mean, for this place it's kind of a step in the right direction that no one is praising it - then again I haven't seen a few "certain" peoples' posts, maybe they're in the pages I didn't read...

No idea what is going on now? It seems that we now have comparisons to Sweat shops and children as well as asking if someone is banned because they posted on another forum? I haven't seen anyone say "This is a good thing NVidia has done" and in fact, quite the opposite but seems that isn't enough! I don't like how online shopping has closed down many small shops, how supermarkets have closed down many small shops, how big companies close down many smaller companies but that's the way it is in life and unfortunately, the way it will be.
On the Ray Tracing. AMD are partnered with Microsoft to work on their DirectX Ray Tracing - so between nVidia and AMD I actually see AMD being ahead on this one. DX Ray Tracing is more likely to get wide uptake than proprietary nVidia RTX imho. But yeah, hardware wise AMD are making it tough to buy their products and nVidia business practices will leave purchases with a nasty aftertaste - it's a tough position to be in as a consumer.
lol and you are still trying to bait it out lol come on now i literally just told you i am not going down that road.Quite agreed

Baiting??? I have asked you questions, which you have ignored, hence my good move statement. I have stated my views, which is my view. Agree or disagree is fine but at least come back with something sensible other than childish accusations.lol and you are still trying to bait it out lol come on now i literally just told you i am not going down that road.![]()
Erm I think you find both AMD and Nivdia had there hand in it. The former are doing there own thing with Valkan and RT and the later are doing there own RT thing on top of DXR.
If AMD did have a big hand in DXR I would have thought they be at least mentioned in MS announcement blog.

In addition, while today marks the first public announcement of DirectX Raytracing, we have been working closely with hardware vendors and industry developers for nearly a year to design and tune the API.
which questions did i ignore? i may have missed one or two, due to the numerous posts, however from my point of view i could say the same of your posts, i tell you im not going down that road and you say wise move in order to bait a response.Baiting??? The tone of AMD’s announcement makes me think that they will have very limited hardware acceleration relative to NVIDIA, but we’ll have to wait and see just what AMD unveils once their drivers are available.
You have been saying PC is Nvidia for a year or two now, but you went and bought a AMD cardAMD having a hand in DXR doesn't interest me, as its consoles, i don't have a one, just got a PC, which is Nvidia.

You know deep down you love AMD![]()

We all know Shanks loves AMD. I somewhat prefer AMD also myself, but unfortunately they have nothing to offer me.i think you mean Shanks, and it's about half a foot down his throat![]()
