GPU prices go boom

as prices come down I decided to invest.

OCUK must have some hedge in place with the supplier? I guess it depends on if retailers are also having to pay over the odds.

I always found that scene odd, because the Ferrari 355 and the Supra were evenly matched from the factory so if that one really had all the upgrades the plot stated then it should have annihilated the Ferrari. It always struck me as strange as the film went over the top with everything to make the modified cars look good then went and made the Ferrari look way better than reality.

regardless of what you say, the lower mileage cars/ vans are worth more. so while you may rightly or wrongly think that, most people don't.

i only do about 3/4k per year but i don't do short trips

Eh?

We weren't discussing worth in that part of the thread we were discussing wear and tear. Of course the lower mileage vehicle would be saleable for more money. But you do also get faults and issues from under/low usage.

When did this turn into motors thread...LOL

The problem is we are all arguing over something that non of us can control

IF and its a big IF we can attribute the increase in prices to the "miners" ignoring the memory shortages used for phones etc (I may be off the mark there) There is nothing any of us can do.. Even if we hold our hands up and say yeah it all us it still wont fix anything.. Plus its hardly the guys like myself and some others on here who may have 60+gpu rigs that are the problem it'll be the 50-60k gpu farms that are the issue.

I couldn't give 2 hoots if no-one here wants to buy y cards (no they aint for sale) but If I wanted to there are plenty of other people who will

I love this thread.. If I'm having a bad day at teh office and feeling sorry for myself I pop into here and see that some people are much more unhappy then me....

Do you always take films as being factually correct?

So you're just focusing on the stress per unit time, and completely ignoring the fact that mining cards are going to be used for much, much longer time periods...?

In before "Gamers might game 24/7, how do you know they don't?"
What if a miner has owned a card for 3 months and it was mining every day for those 3 months? vs a card which is 3 years old and has been used for 2 hrs per week on average over 3 years but only for minecraft. The mining card is a proven card which works at full load reliably but the minecraft card hasn't really been working at a decent load at all.

Just because a GPU has been used for mining doesn't mean it will die soon.... quite the opposite I think.

I agree, fans will fail before cards.

Not sure about that, My version of minecraft crippled my R9 290 but my 1080ti plays it at acceptable frames....
