Law and order always seems to provoke a cross section of opinion from hang 'em high, to sit them down with Jeremy Corbyn for a nice chat and cup of tea. Most of us are somewhere in between. However as we have been reminded before everyone is entitled to their view and this isn't SC either, so per the CoC maybe the mods need to take a look at some of the responses which seem to directly address those as having a certain point of view as "knuckle draggers" or "Neanderthals". I referred to SJW's in my initial response but in the wider political/social context, not directly addressed to those who might such views on here - whom I entirely respect even if I happen to disagree.

Classy post Vern1961, the converse of one where the elderly and "Brexit" supporters are wished deceased. But fear not, I have become accustomed to my prominent brows, jutting jaw line, bedraggled hirsuteness, and stooped gait. I bandage my hands in deference to abrasions form the rocky floor of my cave dwelling :)

I am surprised the police have spared seemingly so many officers to this case, given the pressure on their time from other serious matters:

"Derbyshire Constabulary Male Voice Choir has been forced to change its name by the police because the group does not include women.

Members say they have been left "heartbroken" after claiming Chief Constable Peter Goodman told the choir that he wanted them to become a mixed voice group.

But the choir, which is made up of a number of former officers and has raised £750,000 for charities over the years, said this would not be possible because it would take years to achieve.

As a result, Mr Goodman said the 62-year-old choir could not keep Derbyshire Constabulary in its name and so the group will become known as Derbyshire Community Male Voice Choir."

You couldn't make it up... From the Derbyshire Telegraph.

Words fail me..
.

Me too....why would you get upset about changing one word in your choirs name?

Perhaps you should consider changing your forum name to VincentHanna #Me Too :)

For a supposedly worldly and educated man in the hierarchy of the police to expect a MALE voice choir to drop the male bit and enrol more females, or females with bass voices seems remarkably and deliberately "politically correctly motivated" and serves zero useful purpose save to wind people up and make him look churlish. It also makes claims from the police as to being grossly understaffed and overworked look risible if he can apply his time to such nonsenses.

You'll probably find that if associated directly with the Police, then they would be under some sort of equality law ensuring they have female members.

By changing one word, they are no longer directly associated with the Police, they don't have to worry about it and can remain as an all male choir - hence the one word name change.

It's worrying to be broken into then it's worrying if you use too much force or kill to protect yourself and family.

Laws should change, if you break and enter then whatever happens to you tough ****.

one of the scumbag's relatives (cousin or something) was just on BBC radio given it the usual: "he woz a guy boy, he dindu nuffin wrong" and then bizarrely declared that the homeowner could have just called the police or something completely ignoring that the homeowner was allegedly being threatened with a screwdriver at the time and also had a disable elderly wife upstairs (where the burglar's buddy had just headed)

not to mention the burglar who died was already wanted by police for an earlier burglary on an elderly person in Kent... while the death sentence isn't appropriate for burglary, this burglar no longer being alive perhaps does make the world a slightly better place

So to take your idea further:

If I invite someone in, murder them and then smash a window and claim to the police it was self defence, I should get off scott free?

lol *silence*...

It seems some on here would simply take your word for it and believe your "self defence" defence without even arresting or interviewing you! In the real world, arresting him was the only thing that could be done. Allowing him to get his account on record, whilst then looking at the evidence to, all in likelihood, prove he is telling the truth and officially clear him of any wrong doing.

The laws are more than robust enough to protect home owners who kill or injure a burglar in the heat of the moment - it even allows the homeowner to use a disproportionate amount of force! Unfortunately, when you have a look at cases in which a homeowner *has* been convicted, it's because the homeowner is mental themselves and has laid in wait with weapons. One homeowner even made a pit, pushed the burglar into it and then set fire to him! Another is when the homeowner and his brother chased the burglar down the street and beat him to death with a baseball bat in the middle of the road! Bit difficult to prove self defence in these circumstances...

The BBC have spent hours and hours recently giving platforms to dodgy looking black ex gangsters, all apparently now fully reformed, despite maintaining the carefully cultivated appearance and sound bites of a gangster, blaming Great Britain, the government, poverty and life in general for forcing their ex colleagues to slice up and pump bullet holes in each other, whilst earning an illicit fortune running drugs. Nothing new here. `Tis a BBC speciality, to hell with the licence fee payers.

Just the black ones? Or, shock horror, are those the only ones whose mere presence offends you?

Surely you aren't perturbed by the colour of someone's skin, Chris... Say it ain't so!

I am afraid it's rantings like yours that have allowed this situation to have developed to the level it has, with politicians and the authorities terrified that someone like your good self will enter stage left with accusations of racism when the vast majority of the perpetrators are undeniably mainly young black men with aspirations of a life as some sort of gangster. I haven't seen the BBC interviewing any ex white gangsters, so in their hearts they know that this is indeed a problem with black males living outside of the law, with no regard to life and limb, and with access to firearms, with no compunction not to use them. Shock horror, this is the truth of the matter :)

turns out plenty of the Vincent family are scum, with lots of previous for ripping off old people:

http://www.newsshopper.co.uk/news/8...iled-after-preying-on-elderly-victims/?ref=ar

THREE rogue traders have been jailed after trying to con elderly people into handing over thousands of pounds for unnecessary home repairs.

Brothers James Vincent, aged 40, Robert Vincent, aged 41, and their 27-year-old cousin Amos Vincent were jailed for a total of 17 years and four months at Woolwich Crown Court yesterday.

http://www.newsshopper.co.uk/news/9180770.orpington-builder-jailed-for-72k-roof-repair-con/

Henry Charles Vincent, of Wagtail Way, Orpington, has been jailed for six years after being found guilty of fraud.

Maidstone Crown Court heard the 52-year-old, along with his son, carried out roof repairs at an address in Orpington and took more than £72,000 from the 81-year-old homeowner.

The conmen demanded large sums of money claiming it was for materials and that the roof joists were rotten.

http://www.newsshopper.co.uk/news/427134.crooked-band-of-brothers-caged/

A CROOKED band of brothers who conned pensioners out of almost £450,000 for shoddy building work are behind bars.

Police and trading standards officers are celebrating after taking “callous” members of the Vincent family off the streets following a two-year operation.

The seven men, from St Mary Cray, six of whom are brothers, were caged for a total of 29 years on 15 counts of deception across south London.

Usually working in pairs, the Vincents cheated elderly residents out of extortionate sums using tricks such as planting loose tiles and splashing water on ceilings to create the effect of roofing problems.

http://www.newsshopper.co.uk/news/1...-st-mary-cray-jailed-for-orpington-car-theft/

TWO car thieves from St Mary Cray - one of whom was jailed for fraud two years ago - have been jailed after being captured on CCTV stealing a car.

Amos Vincent, 30, and Jason Webb, 26, both of Teal Avenue, were jailed for 21 months each after pleading guilty at Croydon Crown Court to theft of a motor vehicle, theft and attempted burglary.

On the evening of November 5 last year, the occupants of a house in Gilman's Way, Orpington, were woken by their house alarm.

They found their front door open and their Land Rover Discovery - that had been parked outside - missing. Vincent and Webb were identified by police officers from CCTV in the area and arrested.

the police probably have to tread carefully partly just to ensure a certain traveler's site in Orpington doesn't all start kicking off about this recent, ahem, "tragedy"

funeral will perhaps be interesting for whichever local boozer has the pleasure of their company

also I love how the newspaper reports on the cumulative sentences of the group in order to make it sound like they've been put away for a long time when no doubt once you've split it up and then cut in half for good behaviour they're out again soon enough and up to their old tricks... we really do need significantly longer (exponentially increasing) sentences for repeat offences

and another one:

http://www.newsshopper.co.uk/news/1..._of_silence__protecting_Tommy_Warde_s_killer/

SHATTER the ‘wall of silence’ which has allowed Tommy Warde’s killers to evade capture for two years and help bring them to justice.

This is the plea from the police who are re-appealing for witnesses to speak out about who killed the 17-year-old in Star Lane, St Mary Cray.

[...]
On February 27 last year John Alan Vincent, of Sandpiper Way, St Mary Cray, who had been charged with Tommie's murder, was discontinued at the Old Bailey.

only charged with murder there mind, so presumed innocent, but it does seem strange that all these people from the same family so regularly get in trouble with the police

I wonder if the same wall of silence the police encountered from the travelling "community" back then will come into play again with the only other witness in this case, the second burglar
