Man ‘team-killed and virtually 'teabagged' female journalist during shocking in-game rampage

I think it's a bit sad that you apparently find insulting a random woman that you know literally nothing about "manly".

I've read enough of her comments to know this creature is a stereotypical feminist aka a modern day Nazi who's hate for herself is directed outwards to men & society

If it gives you comfort if it was a short balding fat dude making the same comments I'd be throwing insults his way also

There's a lot of problems in the world, tea bagging someone in a ******* game is NOT one of them and any one who thinks it is needs a serious reality check

Sad thing in the standard response from in house PR teams is to pander to stuff like this, apologise for any 'offence'. Which is why the journalist can laud it over the Dev who made a mistake with the whole "big mistake" line. Some silly act in a video game towards a player he thought was his mate then potentially could cost him his job/career. If companies didn't pander to the faux outrage so much it would have much less effect. The fact they do react just means more people are encouraged to declare they've benn 'offended' by something.

Video gaming is done. It got pozzed ages ago.

All the edgy kids are attending secret training camps to hone their survival and murdering skills for the upcoming culture wars.

I had a great time with the lads last weekend, we learned to tie knots out of reeds, dig a fire pit and put tractor tyres over our enemies and set them alight.

No women or fags allowed.

Too me it's more that he performed an immature act doing something kids playing Halo find funny than because it was performed on a pressure sensitive SJW. Surely you'd want to give the best impression possible when promoting a product? Of course it all depends on the setting and audience it's being promoted to where some things will be acceptable and others not.

So he thought it was his mate and she still wants to kick up a fuss :/

It isn't even that he thought he was his mate, it is that she knew that he thought it was his mate.
Squatting down, isn't actually teabagging.
Just as shooting someone in game isn't actually murder.
A firm dose of reality and fantasy distinction will help these lots no end.

The observation that a lot of feminists are not exactly some of the better looking women isn't without basis now is it?

I'm not sure how anyone can prove that either way, what does the average feminist look like?

A short weak man taking it out on women because of his own perceived shortcomings with women isn't generally tolerated so why the double standards for women?

It does make it less likely that any behaviour was the result of her gender as well.

Has this woman done anything to 'take it out' on the guys?

Looking at the article and tweets it seems to be a guy thats brought most of the attention to this.

And attacking someones appearance because of this is even more baffling, more of an overreaction than any part of this story.

He's trying to get ahead of the problem before it comes to light. Having a woman take offence at something you say or do can be the death of your career.

By putting his version of events out first he is "establishing the facts" and making it difficult for her to gain traction. That's irrespective of whether she would have ever bothered to make a complaint in the first place.

Such are the perils of having women enter into the domains of previously male dominated activities. Unfortunately gamers seem to be the most socially inept group of people anyway so we are always going to be treated to a fireworks display every time an incident occurs.

Grab your popcorn, pick a side, activate your sock accounts and get trolling!!!!

Not quite a random woman though... By account's of what's on the Internet she's a humourless 'Jorno' whose take on what appears to have been a bit of a joke, not even directed at her, is a rather stereotypical example of part of whats wrong with feminism, games 'journalism' and media outlets in general.

Having actually read some of her stuff, I suspect you're projecting what you'd like to believe there. But hey, who lets facts get in the way of a good rage about those damned pesky women with their opinions and stuff ;)

Yeah, she sounds like a monster

Can’t believe that I have to say this: I am not interested in hurting devs because I was annoyed by a lack of professionalism. What happened was unfortunate and a reminder of how not to conduct a press demo.

You know, it’s one thing to get up in my mentions about what happened this weekend. It’s another to attack how I look through my selfies. But it’s about ethics in game journalism. Sure.

No one is naming names publicly. This is being handled privately and gently. It was an issue of professionalism and nothing more. The hubbub was a PSA and reminder that this is unprofessional behaviour. That’s it.

''The journalist who suffered this simulated sex act appears to be Amanda Farough, a self-professed feminist who once worked for Mic.''

That's his career over then.

I do wonder if posters go out of their way to find stuff that offends/angers them? The only way I have heard about this story is because of the post on here.

The OP seems to be permanently offended by the easily offended rather than just ignoring it like the rest of us do.

Well of course there is considerable variation within the group 'feminists' but if you asked me on a random day to describe a typical white western female feminist then I might well say something about purple or other garishly coloured hair, often quite unattractive and often overweight in my description for a 'typical' caricature of a feminist.

Stereotypes are often based in reality but they are somewhat dangerous as they don't necessarily represent the diversity within in a given group even if they do (sometimes accurately) represent a considerable proportion of the group.

People offended by people being offended. Offendception?
