Part of me says just get a £3k Focus or similar and run it into the ground, but I wouldn't mind a nice place to be with up to date tech etc.

What's the excess mileage rate and how does a 10k lease with you budgeting for an excess mileage lump sum work out?
7 pence.

An alternate deal is a crimson red Passat GT 1.4 150 PS which is 6/23 20k £294.84 +vat. It's going to be over 20k anyway as commuting mileage will be around 19k. But I will have a second car so it isn't going to be a huge amount.

Went to see the Karoq at a dealership yesterday. Left feeling quite impressed by the car as a package! Cannot wait for mine to come now!

So £700, meaning if the same car on 10k lease is more than £29 cheaper per month overall, that would be a better way to do the deal.

Edit - a quick look around suggests you'd be looking at more like £260+vat for 10k, so that seems worth looking into.

On the GTD?

On the GTD?
Yes, that was still referring back to the GTD.

Upping mileage on leases often seems to work out significantly more expensive than taking the low mileage option and paying the mileage charge at the end, as long as you can be disciplined enough to ensure you keep the extra money put aside each month (or otherwise ensure you have the lump at the end).

If you were really sad like me, it'd be worth making a spreadsheet that you can drop the numbers into that calculates total costs and average monthly costs for different lease structures :p The sweet spot for you could lie at 8k, 10k, 15k...

I think it's worth doing.
