I wish I got one of the previous gens when I had the chance. Like you said, they hold their value really well, you can put moon miles on them and still not lose all that much.

They had a new one in a local dealership but were asking over $75k! I'd have to have a garage full of very nice cars to justify spending that much on a truck.

Thanks - size and economy aren’t an issue for me, I’m more concerned about performance both on and off road, plus reliability and general comfort. I drive an old Dodge Ram occasionally which feels every bit the work vehicle that it is, so I’d like at least a modicum of refinement and gadgets as I couldn’t live with the Ram in day to day life.

I’d love a Raptor but can’t afford one sadly.

I have the same, but the RF in black. :D thinking of eventually getting some more power out of it. But I’m happy with it for now.

And now the sun is out, and the weather is warming up it’s great to coast around in :D great shot by the way !

The jump from 2008 f150 (tested a couple when we were looking a couple of years ago) to 2010 was big in terms of moving away from the work truck feel but the new vehicles are a league above that, especially if you start looking at higher trims.

Performance wise I have no issues. Plenty of oomph to overtake and it’ll cruise at 80+mph all day fully loaded. The back end can be a bit chattery when empty on bumpy roads but a new pair of shocks (~$150) apparently makes a lot of difference. We found the F150 drove a lot more car like than the other brands, but also had a better payload. Off road it seems fine. We have’t really used them in anger much, but it had no issues with some of the 4x4 tracks we took it down in Utah. You have to remember it’s a long vehicle though, especially behind the rear wheels. We scraped the tow hitch a couple of times on some of the bigger ledges we took it over. I think that’s more a Moab issue than anything else though, there’s a reason people drive lifted Wranglers with 34” wheels!

The RF is a nice looking car, very unique and shares a lot of the ragtops best bits.

Now i have dropped down to a lighter car i dont particularly want to replace this with something 500kilos or so heavier. Weight kills performance and is a fun sponge, the difference even a couple of hundred kilos makes is huge.
I seen the new fiesta is quite a bit heavier than the old one, sigh. Minis are now bloated obese monsters and most German cars have there own mavity.
Come on lets see small ~1000 kilo motors for folk that like driving instead of monster 500hp ****** mobiles weighing so much they go through springs faster than tyres (like my old e46 !!)

Thanks! I was originally looking at the older models too, but most seem to be in poor condition, and the earlier 5.4 engines seem to suffer from various issues.

In terms of off-reading, I won’t be doing anything hardcore, I just need something with 4WD and decent clearance. It always makes me laugh seeing trucks with a massive lift kit, huge off road wheels and tyres, but 2WD :p
 
Arrived yesterday, going through the process, very clean, as new underneath. Gets my banana rising, but maybe not others, hah

Over the moon with how I've got the car looking now, such an improvement from the day I picked it up:

So what have I done?
- Change gloss black wheels for genuine SVR satin grey forged wheels
- Change from Pzero to PS4S tyres
- Change wheel centre caps from red growlers to black growlers
- Painted calipers Ford Focus ST electric orange
- Changed front red growler badge to black growler badge
- Remove front number plate plinth, fit a new gloss bumper bar, sticker plate to maintain cars natural curves and full cooling capacity
- Fit a 4kg lithium ion battery and remove most the un-wanted stuff from boot saving nearly 25kg
- Fit worlds first 2PC full floating rotors made by Wortec in the UK with their suncut edge and thermal grooves, saving 22kg unsprung mass.


Its an amazing car, hit nearly 190mph in it, gunning for 200mph in coming months and ran an 11.3@123mph quarter mile, hoping to improve on that too now its shed a little more weight.


Whats next? Nothing really that is it, next year I shall explore the tune, SC pulley and higher flow cats option to push nearly 700HP and make it a 10s car. :D
 
Doing it right mate, orange and blue, I added orange by painting calipers, you did it just by buying another second EPIC car. :D

When does M2 CS arrive? What colour? Bright green to keep the loud colours going? :)


P.S. Seems Mclaren are just as bad as Jaguar at aligning panels some of those gaps you could smuggle stuff in and un-even bits, guess thats hyper car ownership 101. :D
