Boa system has a lifetime warranty I believe?

I got a replacement kit for my lake shoes for free by putting details on a website.

Sure I also got some from the UK lake distributor for a customers shoe.

Tiny torx key takes off the cap and you'll have two knots within the adjuster itself .

Lots of kits available, the dials fine and the wire hasn't snapped just the knot managed to undo itself.

Fortunately I didn't keep tightening it and wind the wire entirely so was able to anchor it and regain some purchase/tension.

Off down to the engineers workshop at work to raid their tools! :D

Third time out now! This time with power & an aero helmet.

Mild tailwind to start so headwind back. Cold & few spots of rain but didn’t come down properly.

Bit of bad luck with cars at the turn around, three in a row going slow I had to slow down for, then I really don’t enjoy the rough seal, takes 2-3kmh off your speed!

I ran 298w average, power was up and down a bit more with the wind being a little more gusty, the mixture of seal & there are 6 roundabouts and one 90 degree left turn to break it up!

The course I rode 313w on has 3 roundabouts and 2 90 degree left turns and a much better surface.

Still I rode a 23:36 on the watch, so 31 seconds up on previous. How much can be attributed to the lid I don’t know without power data!

Better weather last night, very light wind. Little bit warmer & clear.

22:52 on the watch, same power as last week 298w. Went out a little easier (but still over the average) and came back better but room for improvement.

Stayed tucked over the bridge overpass instead of having to stand and grind even though it really hurt the legs.

Coming back I was just at the point of wanting to shift up but unable to push the larger gear! Maybe those box hill efforts Tuesday hurt me more than I thought.

Typically my skinsuit is due to be delivered today so can try it until next week! What do you do with phone & keys?!

My run of **** luck continues!

One end of the wire still in the dial & tensioning so knotted the other end which held fine for the rest of the ride. Will pop in to the LBS tomorrow for a spare.

Edit: looks like it's just come undone within the dial rather than snapping so just need to source a tool if I can't find anything in my box that's suitable.

Not had the glasses longer than a fortnight! Not really a durable design!

At least my car is now fixed though...

And I haven't fallen off or over anything for almost 7 days :p
Most Boa dials are replaceable so there should be a way of removing it & buying a replacement (if needed).

Bit of a poor design on those glasses, they're not the Rapha ones are they? Just look similar?

Glad you came away unscathed from the car blowout/spring mate, that could've been really nasty! :o

Hopefully that's your 3 done...

Engineers? I thought you worked in finance/insurance!

What do you do with phone & keys?!

Keys in saddlebag & phone in radio pocket?

Anyone got a recommendation for gloves? My left arm especially is really suffering with tingles and going a bit numb, just with how firm the ride is.

I’ve gone through a couple of dhb pairs but didn’t really help much.

I use Castelli Arenberg mitts, decent gel inserts in them, lasted quite well, fractionally suspect in terms of grip when it rains though but that doesn't bother me as I don't sprint in the rain.

Also don't underestimate the benefits of high quality bar tape and decent tyres in smoothing out the buzz.

Sorted with a T6H bit and the Boa guide on their website.

Nope, they are. From the 'bay though so no recourse. Will keep an eye out for another lens on the cheap as the arms/nose piece are reusable. Might glue/reinforce them next time some how.

Yup. Counting my blessings currently.

I do ;)

Hand/wrist positioning plays an important factor as does distributing your weight evenly between the saddle/bars.

The only gloves I've worn out are some Altura ones through long use and in fairness they've got a bit left in them still though I had to re-sew one of the seams.

My DHB lightweight tore during my crash on the backs on a few of the knuckles but are still usable.

Thanks guys, do like the sound of the Arenberg, but those Specialised gloves look ace! No velcro too which I like the sound of, velcro is usually a point of failure over time, and I don't like bits flapping about all over the place

I was sceptical of the fit without Velcro adjusters but they are spot on for me (XL size)

Leave them in the car/hall in my bag. TTs are a safe place, your phone/keys are the least of your problems when you get back and have 50k+ of bikes just sat outside whilst everyone has a tea and cake!

Got a load of new kit from Cycle2work again this year rather than a new bike!

Giro Cinder MIPS - Great helmet, wore this yesterday, actually forgot it was on, needed something with a bit more airflow after riding my Evade around all the time.

Castelli Alpha - Trying to work out what sort of rides I'll use this for, but like my Perfetto it's a great bit of kit with the separate inner liner for wind/extra chest warmth protection.

Exposure Axis Mk5 Tap - Not tried but will use as handlebar mounted light on my road bike/helmet light.

Northwave Flash GTX - After 3 years I thought I'd get a new pair of winter boots, these are lovely and comfy with the neoprene ankle protection. Obviously won't be using them for a while though!

Then some SPD Pedals and a Flash Charger Pump for my MTB.

Saddlebag on a TT... does not compute.

Besides the boa doesn’t fit on my saddle as the rail/design is too wide.
What do you do if you flat? Basically if you're carrying anything then carry it all together? :p

Sounds exactly like cyclists palsy.

I got a pair of these a few years back and really found they helped. Since then I've used under bar gel inserts as well as quite padded bar tape, I've found now can use any gloves, occasionally riding even without gloves and have no pain or soreness at all. I think it's just building up a resilience and getting accustomed to the slight change in hand position that a handbar/bike/mileage change can bring. YMMV

I've got the long fingered ones, the padding is quite firm and annoys me after 2-3 hours of riding. I find the edges of it quite distinct/defined and uncomfortable if I get sweaty/wet hands over a long period. Use them for commuting and occasional social rides now, won't use them on all day adventures!

Now I'm even more confused lol :P

Ok kit, but their smaller one didn't last long here until I broke the end of the bit driver (it fell apart & lost the little ball!). :o

I've used Siegen the last few years and really rate them for value:quality. This kit at work, this one at home. For the smaller stuff (mobiles) I've found the cheapy chinese metal bit drivers from amazon are generally ok and better than the mini screwdriver types. If you need a pry/opening tool the plastic ones are shocking though! I invested in 'The Opening Tool', which has been well worth the investment (mine wasn't that cheap!) if you do lots of work with mobile devices etc.

Tangent anyway? :D  #sorrynotsorry

Maybe it felt worse because of a cross-headwind and my "form" is quite negative (although my legs don't feel sore), but omg, that cat4 climb on the Longleat estate is evil compared to the other five(?) cat4s and one cat3 I've done this week on a ~13Kg hybrid hire bike!

Cycling up to the South Down hills on my ~9Kg road bike this weekend is going to feel like a piece of cake... Unless I tackle Harvesting Lane and its nasty final ~0.5 mile to the summit!

Didn't use the e-bike much myself in the end, better half found its saddle far more comfy and its power boost far more preferable. Bit annoying they won't let you off campus with it, despite having to sign an agreement that makes you responsible for damage and theft, having left a £100 deposit. Could be great to get non-cyclists accompanying partners on proper bikes, or using it to head to Cheddar etc.

Gloves will help a bit but I'd also have a think about increasing saddle setback (and reducing reach/drop to the bars if necessary). This will project more weight backwards and reduce the load on your hands.
