Road Cycling

My diet is terrible in that respect.

Sunday morning I left at 8am after having pizza the night before, Gregg's at 9am were I inhaled a roll n Bacon and managed to eat a sausage roll whilst riding at the back of the bunch.

Dropped one of my two bottles a mile onto the ride .

That lasted for 50 or so miles then had a bowl of soup and coffee which got me home the last 30 where me and my mate increased our average after leaving the bunch so still rising hard.

@BennyC

105 11 speed 11-32 here.

First pic is the normal straight line of teeth as you can see and the other two show the otherside of the cassette.

If you are happy with alignment of the mech and hanger, cable is free enough and the chain/cassette should be new enough to mesh then have a wiggle at the jockey wheels. The GS mechs have really tall teeth on the upper wheel specific to the GS mech.

Thanks for that, interesting to see that the teeth profile is by design, when with a bit of dirt on the cog it looks like wear/snapping!

The issue wasn't replicated since later on the ride in fairness, it definitely wasn't free-hub slip but chain on cassette. Shifted/shifts fine. I'll take another look but perhaps there was something fouling those few gears briefly.

Had my first taste of road rage while on the bike tonight.

I was going down a busy high street, guy decided he couldn’t be bothered to wait for me to go past a junction so attempted to pull out to cut me up, but luckily just missed him and carried on going. He followed me really closely, so closely that if I had to brake he’d have gone right through me. Came to a round about and he was behind me revving his engine, went to go round me but I’d already gone and a car blocked him off, this obviously riled him up even more as he started beeping his horn behind me, next junction he revved his engine again but gave my back wheel a little nudge.

Luckily on the next road he got bored and just zoomed off, cutting me off when cutting back inside

Adrenaline from a mix of anger and fear that he might just knock me off gave me a pretty good ride in the end :D

It’s the people who are too busy texting or on Facebook that worry me. Every other car when you go past people at a set of lights and then they take 5 seconds extra to move when it turns green...

Run you down and wouldn’t even notice.

I long for the day when the front of a vehicle is a dead zone for mobiles.

As (generalisation) almost all of the population/drivers has one I don't see why they can't be used in a similar fashion as keys in that it needs plugging in to run the car whilst simultaneously disabling it. *can of worms*

Good idea but slightly flawed in that mobiles are routinely used as Sat Nav. I agree though they are menace 3 or 4 times I see people using them on a short walk into town.

Yep, it’s really concerning. I’m also not a fan of how complicated the entertainment systems are in some cars now. Do you really need a full blown PC telling you a million things a foot from your face while driving?

Replacement jockey wheels for a DA9000 derailleur, talk to me...

I know there is little merit to ceramic with regards to power, around 1 whole watt from studies but from a durability & value for money perspective they seem to make sense? With OEM replacements being around the £18 mark and ceramic options for £20-30 it's a bit of a no brainer? Any recommendations?

Yes, had one on my Ultegra Di2 on my TT bike for the past year or so.

Ta, might pick one up down the line. Currently running a 32t without the need for any modification on a short cage DA9000 so I'm not sure if larger wheels would foul the cassette (probably).

maybe man up and stop using a 32 :D

This.

Off to Majorca at the start of June but can't bring my own bike for logistical reasons.

Can't quite stretch to an R5 or S5 so I'm going to rent this S3 with Ultegra 8070 Di2 disc and Enve rims...

I suspect they would struggle, maybe man up and stop using a 32 :D

Lolwut  Same power output for me just slightly blurrier legs ;)

I've got a 28t on the Speedmax, will probably eventually run a 25t which would handle that cage a little better and I'd probably appreciate the power saving more on there ;)

Did you forget to switch the motor assist on? ;)

Strong cross (SW) tailwind here heading home at lunch, unusual as usually cross headwind (NW) or just pure headwind (W). On my cut through I did spot a bus (cut-through joins cycle path to road is also a bus route) so put some effort in. With the usual tailwind I had hoped to get a tow from the bus to really help a segment effort I've been after... Bus didn't materialise but busted out an effort equal to my PR. Dammit bus!

Don't know where I'm going to find 10s to take the KOM I'm after up there... I'm faster than most of the guys on the chaingang up there but maybe need to ride it with them to get a real leadout on the approach.

450-500W for 55s is pretty damn good for me! A 3-4% slope (2% avg) but currently too hard/long for me to fully sprint the second part. Potholes. Meh.

@Thomas. PLease. think you could find 4 minutes on your RP CW lap? Ed Bradbury has been at it again :o

The mention before of saddlebags, just came across the one I've seen the last couple of weekends that all the race guys are raving about. Silca Premio. I'm not quite sure why at that price?! It rips off the Lezyne roll design and throws in a boa dial for no obvious reason other than to use one as a fastener rather than velcro?! :o

Lol, raced Ed a few times at the beginning of the year, utterly eclipsed the field in most TTs. Think I will have a go at the ACW KOM soon, pretty sure I can get very close on the right day. Not that I imagine it would last long.

:D

Might be worth emailing them, there is quite a bit of adjustment. I've only got it running on a 25 currently, well 23 as it fouls my rear disc so can only use the rear cassette as a 10sp.
