16 to have sex but 18 to watch it? That makes no sense at all.
16 is too early - the bodies and minds of both girls and boys are not ready yet.
18 to watch, 21 to have

Something that some distributors took into accountGrowing up if a film had an 18 certificate it automatically become cool and a must see - Predator, Terminator (pretty much any Arnie movie), RoboCop and Nightmare on Elm street etc were all looked upon with an aura of fascination.

i recall searching for a copy of Evil Dead, it was the total poster child for the fall of civilization according to the BBFC. banned then released cut etc. a few weeks ago i wateched Ash vs Evil Dead ~ freely available on DVD and the levels of gore and violence are magnitudes above the original film, lol.

To be fair, much of that 'cool' is that they used to market a pretty sweet toy line for all those movies. You don't tend to get kids toys sold off the back of age rated movies any more.Growing up if a film had an 18 certificate it automatically become cool and a must see - Predator, Terminator (pretty much any Arnie movie), RoboCop and Nightmare on Elm street etc were all looked upon with an aura of fascination.
