I keep them upright but my Gf tends to put them rim down. I think they seem to have a funky smell to them if they have been upside down.

You’re supposed to put it in the toilet once you get sheet on it.

I go rim up. Assuming it's completely dry, I can't see the hygiene argument for going rim down, unless the surface on which it's resting is cleaner than air.

Rim down is for outside a cupboard. Like in a bar, except they normally sit on a sterilised mesh mat when stored in that way so the rim doesn't touch the surface.

they're rim down in the dishwasher and they're dry before I put them in the cupboard
