An off-duty FBI agent allegedly accidentally shot a man in the leg early Saturday after the agent’s gun fell from his holster on the dance floor of Mile High Spirits, according to a Denver police news release.

Video of the incident obtained by Denver7 shows a man alleged to be the FBI agent dancing while surrounded by onlookers and then executing a backflip. During the flip, the gun appears to fly out of the man’s holster. The man in the video jumps to pick up the firearm and appears to fire the gun in the process. The man puts the gun back away in the back of his pants and holds up his hands as onlookers appear shocked and scared.

Hahahahahahahaaaa what a muppet.

Luckily the victim only had a leg wound. Denver police are yet to issue any charges. The FBI agent has been released to a supervisor.

I wonder what type of pistol that was? I thought FBI would carry Glocks - I thought they had a grip safety to stop this kind of thing! Whatever it was he can't have had the safety on surely!

Glocks have no manual safety, looks like he picks it up with his finger on the trigger

Jebus, what a muppet. I thought someone was going to shoot the dancer for being so ****.

Yeah, Glocks don’t have safety ‘buttons’ as such, just these extra ‘prongs’ on the trigger so you have to fully press the trigger for it to go off.

Jesus... I mean , I understand the gun being loaded, but cocked and ready to fire as well ??? Why?? Also, shouldn’t it be in a holster, and not loose in his trousers ?

Do modern guns need to be cocked? It just sounds like an obsolete term to me, from back in the days of "the wild west" and a hammer on the top of the gun that does the firing.

I think the main problem is that he picked it up incorrectly, i.e. that he fired the gun rather than that the gun was ready to fire. My knowledge of guns is minimal, but even I know that you don't have your finger on the trigger unless you're intending to shoot or at least are in a situation where you may need to shoot immediately, where the slightest delay could be fatal.

The do, they're issued either a 22 or a 23. Both are chambered in .40SW and have the usual Glock trigger safety.

I don't know much about Glocks but those I do you slide the top back to chamber a round but the top locks back on the last round fired so if you put a new mag in when it slides forward (not of its own accord) it is fully ready to fire.

I always thought when a new mag gets put into a gun, it needs cocking to load the first round into the chamber ? I could be totally wrong though. I’ve no real world experience with any firearm. :p

Edit. Yeah, what Rroff said.

Basically, there shouldn’t have even been a round in the chamber, especially off duty. Just seems daft to have a round chambered. I don’t think glocks have any manual safety either.

If it was fired because he picked it up wrong then that’s even worse. A trained FBI agent can’t pick up a weapon without it going off...

Being in a stressful or embarrassing situation can’t be an excuse either as he is an trained FBI agent.

They have a trigger safety, a thin lever in the middle of the trigger meant to prevent it going off if the trigger snags on something. It doesnt prevent being drunk and incompetent though.
