Martin O' Neill arguing that it's not a penalty because it wasn't deliberate. If that's the rule as written I think it's a load of rubbish the ball could have flying into the top corner, deliberate or not it may have stopped a goal.

Deliberate handling of the ball is literally the rule. Interpretation over the years has moved increasingly far from that.

Handball, as written in the rules of football, is subjective. Actually, quite a lot of fouls are. This means that even with good evidence it cannot be objectively decided who is correct.
