FIFA World Cup 2018 - Round of 16 [30th June, 1/2/3 July] **spoilers**

England were lucky, if pickford hadnt left his line before the ball was kicked he may not have saved it.

Seems to be a problem with ref / linemen not using the rules in this world cup. all then penalties but one so far the keepers have cheated and gone before the ball has been struck.

That rule seems a bit weird, so many penalty takers hesitate so as to make the goalie commit. Why can’t the goalkeeper do the same.

I vote for when the whistle goes that the goalie can come out and rugby tackle them :D

The keeper can move, but should stay on the line. Pickford was about 2 yards out when he saved the penalty.

Every keeper is doing it, why wouldn't he follow suit. Just like the ref/liner never pick up on foul throws of which there were a few last night, one in particular from a Colombian player was actually lol'worthy it was that bad.

That sort of officiating has been awful tbh. Throws being 20 yards from where they should be, people stealing 10 yards on free kicks etc. Don't remember it ever being this prevalent.

It's funny how when it's your team playing **** and scraping victories together it's "That's the sign of champions" yet the national team do it and "They are ****, they need to improve, did nothing, rubbish".

I'm a bit salty that great teams had to face each other and go home and yet England that hasn't scored a real goal since Panama is still here. I hope they get smashed at some point but it looks like they might have one of the easiest world cup routes in history.

Which two great teams have faced each other except France and Argentina?

I don't disagree with why he did it, i probably would have done the same knowing they dont use the rules as they should.

With there being so many penalties this cup seems more obvious than normal that its happening.

I take it you're not a fan.
Nah not really lived in Scotland for a long time and the "its coming home" nonsense is making it much worse. Plus only a few things are better than salty English football fans. I might have been OK if I believed England deserved to still be in the world cup.

Uruguay, Portugal, Spain, Russia.

Uruguay, Portugal, Spain, Russia.
You are really calling Portugal and Russia great teams? Your desperation is delicious.

I wouldn't be so critical of us if we were playing effective football but we are devoid of creativity so far, scraping past poor teams because they are gifting us penalties. Does anyone honestly think we could win the tournament if we were on Belgium's side of the ladder? I think whoever progresses on that side of the ladder will see the semis as the real final.
