FIFA World Cup 2018 - Round of 16 [30th June, 1/2/3 July] **spoilers**

That post doesn't make sense.
How would any team/sports person improve their ranking if they were only allowed to go as far as their 'current ranking' ?!

I didn't say that England are "not allowed" past the last 16.

What I meant was this constant expectation that England should always be able to make quarter or semi finals, and that the last 50+ years have been a huge disappointment because they have never managed to win the thing since 1966.

England making quarter or semi finals should be looked at as a hugely exceptional performance, way above what could and should be counted as normal expectation.

I'm still not sold on his abilities as a manager though :p Still think he leaves it far too late to make changes when they are needed, or has no Plan B when things start to go wrong.

I think he'll grow into the role just like the team. I really like the fact they are all a little green and riding a bit of luck etc.

The 2010 side with Lampard, Terry, Gerrard must have been stronger. But so were the tournaments back then.

I wouldn't cancel the possibility that many of the big teams just didn't go to Russia seriously with the intention to achieve something.

But still, France, Belgium and Brasil are pretty good.

I think the title will be in that part of the stream.

Have any teams not struggled so far except Uruguay? England still have an okay chance and people should enjoy it instead of being utter fannies

It's laughable really that people get so hyped about this. We struggled to beat Columbia by a coin flip (penalty shootout) even though they were the only ones to score a real goal.

Yeah shame on us for celebrating winning a penalty shoot out for the first time in a WC, and the first time in 22 years. How dare people be happy about that.

The relief alone is reason to get hyped, considering how many times we've lost on penalties in the past.

Brasil creates tones of opportunities for goal, it would be insane to call them struggling. Just more luck and they will score four-five each game.

Winning a penalty shootout after a poor performance against a poor team, fine, celebrate. But I'm talking about the kind of hype where all the news outlets and social media were acting like we had won the World Cup.

I am really concerned by our lack of chances created. Lindgard, Alli and Sterling aren't cutting it for me. They were all pretty disappointing yet again last night. Also, Dier has been atrocious this world cup, he's making Hendo look quality which is quite impressive! I think we need to have a little mix up, get Loftus-Cheek and Rashford on and see how they get on. Defensively i'm pretty happy it's just the 3 behind Kane which isn't working.

It's a big deal that's why, for the reasons I stated above.

Imagine if we do actually win the WC though! Country would melt.

I can dream.

Colombia are not a poor team, why do people think they are?

England have won a game in the knockout stage, by penalties no less. It is like winning the world cup!

Jesus man, be happy!! Nobody ever expected us to do this well.

No one is acting like that
:p
