"Well met, Arisens! Here, have some awesome news:

As of January 2016, the epic fantasy action-RPG Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen will be available on Windows PC for $29.99 / € 29.99 / £ 24.99, with full Steam platform support. Huzzah!

In case you missed it on console, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is an awesome, inspired, sprawling fantasy game set in an open world, where players create their own unique character and supporting, AI-controlled characters known as Pawns, which can be “rented” and shared online by other players. Battle giant mythical beasts, master a variety of distinct vocations, and explore atmospheric dungeons to uncover endless items and loot.

The PC version will feature stunningly high-res graphics and improved fidelity, as well as support for both the Xbox 360 and Xbox One controllers, as well as a traditional keyboard and mouse control scheme."

I for one am very excited :D I've been tempted so many times to pick this up on console going by the great things I've heard about it, but I'm always put off by the awful frame rate. Hopefully this will be a decent console port (no 30 fps cap or something stupid like that).

EDIT: Completely forgot about thus but there's such a thing known as "Dragon's Dogma Online". For Japanese markets only, but people are assuming that it's using the same engine as the original title. Apparently it runs pretty good, and you can even download just the benchmark to check.

Unexpected, and totally mad!... About 3 years late!

The game itself could be great. I played about 5 hours on PS3 and tbh while it had potential it was very rough, and a bit tedious. Great boss fights though!

Has potential if the right changes are made, but a straight port of the game wouldn't be that great imo.

This has potential, but I think with Dark Souls 3 around the corner it might not get a huge amount of online players for the "pawn" system to work well.

Good game, hope it does well if the graphics are much improved.

I loved Dragons Dogma, was a brilliant game on Xbox 360, I played the crap out of it. Was definitely going to pick up the sequel no matter what format it came to. Will be all over it on PC

Great game on PS3.

Excellent graphics and music
Lovely "exploring" atmosphere (also fighting at night more dangerous and difficult)
Great combat mechanics powers, spell effects and weather effects :D
lots of different armours and weapons to wear/modify
innovative player pawn system.

Liked this game a lot...a lot of wandering in this game which was part of its charm imo gets a bit repetitive and easier later on. (though in saying that dno about DA only played DD)

Years late  Dark Souls 3 will crush this into nothing!
Totally ridiculous. This game will sell well guaranteed. Dark Souls III probably wont come out til Feb/Mar at least. Plus PC gaming market has room for more than one big title in a similar window. Especially since they'll be at different pricing tiers.

Anyways, I bought this last year for the PS3 and just couldn't stomach the framerate. Visual quality was pretty awful, but I can get past that. Framerate that dipped into the teens and regularly hovered in the low 20's? No chance. I turned it off after an hour and never went back.

So this news is really awesome. Game engine was actually built for PC and has historically run *very* well on actual PC architecture, so it bodes well for getting something truly special.

In terms of expectations/desires, they're not really sky high. Considering that 720p and a v-sync'd 30fps would already be a huge upgrade, I'd be quite happy with the ability to use resolutions above 1080p, no 30fps cap and a simple vsync on/off setting. Anything beyond that will be icing. This is a very combat-orientated game so having 60fps will be the biggest enhancement in my opinion.

Cant wait. Will buy without question.

EDIT: 1080p image downsampled from 4k:

Interesting news, it was a very mixed bag of a game on the consoles, but one that I put a good amount of time into. I seem to remember liking the expansion area more than the main game, but was frustrated by the copy and paste rooms. It really was one of those games where I wished for a Pc version, graphics were OK, but as mentioned above the framerate was terrible.

I'd probably pick it up again once it goes cheap, but I can't help but remember some of the game's flaws and be put off.

Fantastic news, recommend people give this a go if you like your RPGs. One of the Best combat oriented RPGs I played.

Played it about a year ago but was held back by the PS3 but even still had a hell of a time with it. Didn't do the expansions so looking forward to that.

Hopefully they upgrade it a bit, especially draw distance and along with 60fps this wil be great.

PRE LOADS ALREADY! Where did the time go?????

Oh god, I've just got a new 3DS XL and I've got to play that to justify it, still not finished Witcher 3!!!

TOO MANY GAMES.

Sorry for the massive bumpage here but seen this game on a friends wishlist and it looks kind of interesting and since the sale is soon over I thought I ask about it.

Not sure if anyone around but what's the opinion about this game ? Fun, interesting, buggy, crappy, too short ??

Played on PS4. Liked the game but found the end sequence literally impossible.

Don’t know about pc port but it’s a half decent game. I’d get it on the cheap.
