We've all been there. Get up, make a drink or get some food and on those odd occasions, we do something silly while still in that state.

So, what is the silliest thing you've done?

I'll get us started - after making a sausage sandwich, I put the clingfilm in the fridge  and couldn't find it later in the day...

Not the worst, but last night was making the missus a cup of Redbush (Roobos) tea and had the lid off the milk before my subconscious threw the "you stupid boy" realisation at me.

Turned up at work with top inside out

Realised my Boxers back to front only when going for a pee

Rode my bike into a parked car whilst on autopilot

got my work lunch prepared , left it on the sofa then forgot to take it, done this far too many times

I guess getting up at 4.45am doesn’t agree with me

Failed at parking on the driveway and proceeded to not put the handbrake on. The car rolled in to my parents house...

Luckily it hit a gutter downpipe and so there was no damage to the car and somehow none to the pipe!

Failed at parking on the driveway and drove in to the gfs car.

Luckily the minor scuffs on both cars polished out!

Sleep walked out my front door and closed it behind me while in boxers and T-shirt, then woke up. Mid February, -2*C, blowing a gale and raining.

Had to shoulder charge my own door down to get back in, split the door frame.

I was in the work cafe a while ago and had just bought a coffee, went over to the stand to grab some sugar and throw away my gum.

Picked up a sachet of sugar, took my gum out, put the gum in my coffee and threw the packet of sugar in my other hand into the bin.

People saw.

did you act all casual and take a sip of the coffee as if that was what you meant to do :p

Are we talking silly or stupid?
I'll go stupid - continued to drive, with my entire family (mum, dad and brother at the time) back from Dover to Cambridge when it would have been quite simple to ask my dad to drive for a bit.

came in from a night out, pretty drunk, decided i wanted some corn flakes so filled a bowl poured the milk, went up stairs to bed, suddenly i needed to pee so put the bowl on the bed, once done peeing i came in the room jumped on the bed forgetting about the bowl resulting in a milky mattress with corn flakes all over it.

I wasn't going to make it worse by trying to fish it out so i just stuck the lid on and left.

To be fair, it was a strong airwaves one, actually tasted quite nice.

Great thread idea!

Oh man, so glad I'm not the only one. I did the same last weekend, walked out my flat in only my boxers. Woke up on the other side, thoroughly confused. Decided against trying to ram the door as it's rented and that would've cost me more than the locksmith. So walked 20 minutes to my mum's house at 4am, in my boxers. Not my proudest moment, luckily there weren't too many people around.

Stood in front of my door, trying to open it with my car keys. Remotely.

Started making squash, got momentarily distracted, went back and took a swig of undiluted squash.

More disgusting than anything, waiting for the shower to warm up. Popped our a little fart.. That wasn't. Made a mess on the bath mat.

Made a cup of tea, put tea in fridge, stood there with milk in hand.

I've plenty more.

I'm tired a lot.

And stupid even more often.

15 years ago, during a major depressive episode, I went without sleep for ~30 hours, during which I worked a full night shift, then drove to a random country town (where I had a coffee and read the newspaper) and back home again.

It was a 2 hour round trip, and considering the state I was in at the time (almost completely detached from reality) I was lucky to survive the experience.

Came back from the pub at night desperate for a wee, decided the tree by the gate was the ideal place. Didn't hear the widowed old girl over the road come up with a package left at her house for me. She just looked, grinned and said, "My Charlie used to do that, that's why one tree is bigger than the other", as she handed me the parcel laughing. Gotta love old ladies with a sense of humour ;) I use a different tree now...

Got distracted eating dinner, thought I put my fork down, spent several minutes looking for it - it was in my hand the whole time. This happens more often than I care to admit.

Woke up on a Saturday morning "late for work", rushed out got the bus and everything... then I realised it was a Saturday and I don't work Saturdays anymore. That was the biggest IRL facepalm I've ever done.

I once sleepwalked, (is that even a word?), down into the kitchen and peed in the bin when I lived in a shared house about 10 years ago. When my housemate woke me up and I had no idea what was happening, johnson in hand tinkering away. I couldn't fathom his frustration with me, called him a "Richard" head, and went back to bed. That was an awkward conversation the next day when he told me it took him 30 mins at 3am to clean up my mess. I was proper eyes wide open asleep!

Serious question, what do you consider stupid about this? It's neither a long, difficult or challenging drive.
