1080ti vs 1080 vs wait

So, I can currently get a 1080ti for £670, a 1080 for £480, or do I continue to wait? I'm not sure how good these prices are in the current climate of GPU's, I'd rather not wait, but I'd also rather not have regrets if something was to drop soon and the prices drop a lot.

Currently running with:
AMD Ryzen 7 2700x
ROG STRIX B350-F Gaming Motherboard
GeForce GTX 970
Vulcan T-force 16GB DDR4 3200Mhz
Samsung SSD 840 EVO 250gb
1TB SSHD
550 WATT PSU(can't remember the name right now)

This is all on 144hz 1080p Monitor.

We have a 1080 deal coming up Friday for a really high-end card, one of the fastest out the box actually, like nearly 2000MHz boost, also £50 worth of FREE games and will be like £470

This Friday is "RED HOT FRIDAY" at OcUK, our own exclusive deals weekend a little akin to Black Friday with some really strong market leading deals and bundles, so keep ya eyes open for it.

A 1080 around £450 is money well spent, they simply won't get much cheaper if at all and 1080Ti will no doubt remain in the £650-£800 for the rest of year.

Be around 9:30am Friday goes live, we've only got 100, so you might need to be quick, its the Inno3D 1080 iChill X4, so its the flagship one, crazy big cooler, high boost speed and also a good memory OC as well, if I remember right its the second fast 1080 available on market, only beaten by Zotac 1080 AMP Extreme which are no longer available, so as of now its the fastest 1080 available, quite a big performance boost over say a Founders Edition due to clock speeds and much superior cooler.

Alright, I'll set my alarm nice and early then haha. I am quite a noob though, and my understanding is I'd need a new PSU to power a newer GPU like that 1080, will there be any other deals with that sort of thing? Looking to get a 500gb SSD too, my GPU, PSU and SSD are all approaching 4 years old, so half way through a new RIG after I upgraded my MB, CPU and RAM a couple of months ago.

SSD's have fallen in price massively, £79.99 for a 500G at OcUK.

PSU I shall get my buyer on the case, but a decent 600W or higher should cover a 1080 no problem, maybe grab 700W to have some headroom and make sure its Gold certified minimum.

Yeah was just wondering if there was going to be any of those things in the same sale on Friday, just in case I had to keep my eye out for those too.

A forum post will be made but the webshop will be updated first.
Can't get much better than £79.99 for TeamGroup 480G SSD I am afraid, they are also 3D NAND so the better stuff like Samsungs.

PSU's will go on offer Friday, no idea which ones yet.

GTX 970 at 1080p is fine for now, unless you are desperate and it is not just for playing games.

Come September 6-8 weeks time when you are going to more than likely see a next gen card for £450-500 that is as fast as the GTX 1080TI, or you'll end up with a GTX 1080 at circa £370.

Spend some time tweaking the RAM timings on your Ryzen system, and by the time you get it stable the new cards will be out.

Issue I'm having ATM is my card is hitting 100% quite a lot, and like I said, I'm pretty much a noob, I just plug in and play, I've done very little overclocking in my life, and the little I did was someone else basically doing it for me.

I primarily play WoW too, they just removed the Fullscreen option as they are wanting everyone to move to dx12, so fullscreen windowed is the new thing, and since that change my PC is performing significantly worse.

DX12 for WoW is just DX11 in a wrapper.

I just upgraded a system for a fried this weekend gone, from a 1060 to a 1070TI clocked to GTX 1080 speed, and you know what the bottleneck is? It's the pants old engine that is un-optimised for modern hardware. It runs like dog doodoo on Ultra (10 in the settings) and spending ages tinkering didn't help that much since the GPU was sitting at 60-70%, and the CPU around the same. Runs 100+ FPS in raids, and BG's, but certain parts like Dala, and flying over Suramar just made it nose dive to the 40's.

BFA is out 14th August, so I can understand why you might be eager to upgrade, but with WoW the best thing going it Adaptive Sync not pure FPS, since the game can't do it. Do you have a G-sync monitor?

WoW is slower in DX12, at least on Nvidia.

Nope, I don't have G-sync, my Monitor is showing up as ZOWIE XL LCD, it's 144hz BenQ, that's as much as I remember.
Was that before or after the prepatch launched? My game was running very smoothly before the prepatch in exclusive Fullscreen, since that though, even if my FPS is high, it feels like it's running like complete poop, it's not smooth at all, 100 FPS feels like 40-50 FPS usually does, and the FPS is very spikey. Apparently prepatch has made it so better hardware is being utilized more, whether that's entirely true or not I don't really know though, WoW forums aren't the best

Also will be playing Fallout 76, and Fallout 4 really doesn't get along with my 970, returning to my beloved modded Skyrim, and Battlefield 5 too.

Unfortunately not, VEGA is still in over supply with little demand in UK, but in other regions miners still demand it so for us our best is 64 at £499, do keep eye open as anyone with overstock will maybe just dump it and sell at a loss, were selling ours at cost based on support AMD gives and they trickle out, for us to drop further AMD will have to support more and currently they refuse to give more.
