PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS - Thread

Does anyone else that plays in duos/squads find that some people in the team can hear sounds that others can't or just hear them from further away?

Are you on about if they are dead and spectating? You can definitely hear a lot more than what your partner can, my friend or I will often call out peoples positions depending on who is dead. Think it's a bug.

depends how you got your pc set up.what you listening to sounds through.
Using some Steelseries Arctis 3 (not using the 7.1 stuff) connected via an Asus Xonar U5 USB soundcard (also with surround disabled).
I could turn the volume up but I don't know if that would help, plus gunshots would deafen me.
I *think* I can hear gunshots pretty well (can't always pinpoint them as well as some streamers seem to but I think that's on me) but it's things like footsteps I struggle with.

Sometimes it is, but other times we're both alive (for a few minutes, then the people he can hear that I can't kill us).

DrDisrespect (after a run of frustrating games) said that PUBG has a very low skill gap.
He hasn't seen me play, then he'd realise the range of the skill gap!

Of course he might have said "skill cap", but I think he underestimates (or overestimates) how potato-y us potatoes can be!

Doc is definitely not a pro. He sucked so hard at charity event. It was sad to watch... He basically is all talk same as his "created" character... Had a chance to prove himself. Choked...
I don’t think anyone, other than his ‘character’ thinks he’s pro in any way. He’s an entertainer - whether good or bad at that is subjective but it’s what draws viewers to him. Not his ability (or lack thereof)

As said above, Doc is an entertainer. The only streamer that looked any good was Shroud, but then he was a pro (Albeit on CS:GO).

Depending on your headset, you could try messing around with the equaliser settings. Basically want to boost the higher frequencies whilst lowering the lower end. I have the arctis pro with gamedac and have the following settings:

(in order left to right)
-4, -2, 2, 4, 6, 5, 6.9, 5.9, 5.7, 3.9

I'm usually ok with sounds except in places like Ruins where its 3 stories and people all around. Have gotten killed a few times when I couldn't tell if they were above or below me. I have an old creative fatality headset, birthday next month so may treat myself! Any recommendations?

Pro Liquid player Jeemzz just got an actual 29 kill solo game, no stream snipers. Most insane round I've seen.

Recommend it to everyone who gets 30 mins spare

Yes - nothing wrong with that in my eyes, it adds more atmosphere to the game, pity they can't turn fog into sand tho.

A very good patch that but I just don't get the reasoning behind this:

  • When bullet hits the forearm of the character, it will penetrate following its ballistic curve. The result will be different depending on whether the forearm is blocking more vulnerable body parts.
    • When a bullet penetrates a forearm and strikes a more vulnerable body part behind it, the greater damage will be applied. In other words, if a player’s forearm takes a bullet while blocking their head, the full headshot damage will be applied. This penetration system works for the head, torso, and waist only.
    • If a bullet penetrates the forearm, but no vulnerable body part is behind it, only the forearm damage will be applied
So if i shoot someone, hit them in the arm and the bullet then subsequently hits their head the damage dealt to their head will be equal to the damage dealt if I were to headshot them

Wheres the logic in this? Surely the damage should be less if a bullet travel through an object to then hit another...

Much better this way as some people were tanking way too many bullets when getting hit in their arms, taking 7+ shots to kill with AR/DMR.

For example, lets say you are fighting a guy up hill from you. As his gun is out his arms are blocking you from getting a clean headshot, you are landing 3+ shots at his 'head' but he is only losing half his hp.

They initially planned to do damage multipliers through objects but no good solution currently. This penetration works like CS:GO afaik now, which is the gold standard for FPS games.

Eliminated teammates can now place markers on the map.
don't agree with that one. eliminated teammates should not be able to interact with the game other than spectating and chatting.

Now you can move your mouse cursor to another monitor when the system menu, world map, or inventory is opened, if you use multi-monitors
could you not always do that before? i'm sure i could.

more buildings on erangel is good.

dynamic weather on the other maps is good.

performance optimisations is very good. :D
