He's not calling for them to be banned, he's just criticising them.
As long as it fits within the remits of what it considered 'public decency' then anyone should be allowed to wear what the hell they like.
I am certainly no fan of Islam and I believe that its an oppressive and dangerous religion. However the 'rub' is this. When women wearing burkas etc have been asked on how they feel about a ban I have seen a number of interviews and ALL of then have stated that they wear it out of choice and not because of some cultural or religious duress.
Making exceptions to accommodate the culture of other countries at the expense of our own, as well as security concerns is downward road.
When do we stop?
I agree with him, they should banned so they don't have the option to wear them.
If they don't like it they can leave.

I'm against anything that covers the face as it's not good for social cohesion, Hijab aren't too bad but head scarves look a lot nicer and less oppressive.
How the left have managed to turn the Burqa into a symbol of freedom I have no idea, they are truly masters of spin.
This.
It's not a religious garment. IT'S A SAND MASK!
I would argue he's more appealing to the left, hence him specifically pointing out that the Burka is a repressive cultural tool and has nothing to do with religion.Sounds like he’s appealing to the harder right.
