Tractor on fast roads

As i live in a slightly more rural area here than most i see a lot of these dam farm vehicles clogging up the road at peak times and it irritates the buggery out of me.

Now i know they have to get about but come on a bit of common sense wouldnt go amiss would it, dont run around at 10-20mph when the place is full of angry car drivers trying to get to work.
As for the school run times, help ma bob what a difference when the schools shut for holidays round here. I can get to work in under 1 track on the stereo during the summer but as soon as the little darlings are back to school its can take 20 mins.

Make them bloody walk like i had to.

Yeah, it's worth noting they are allowed in the 70 MPH section of the A55 too (unlike mopeds, horses, cyclists, learner drivers, etc) so even if the road the OP was talking about was 70 MPH like he claimed it wouldn't make any difference.
 
Also a regular occurrence round my neck of the woods, especially on a major trunk route to Stranraer. Generally don't bother me as most of them will pull over when they can to let traffic get by, consideration in both sides.

It's the ones that will quite happily drive on for miles ignoring any laybys that you start to loose patience with.

Why do you loose your patience? Why does slowing down wind people up so much.
If your in that much of a rush you set off too late.

Without wanting to go too far off topic, I wish I lived so close to work, I'd be walking if I were you!
 
Anything but Motorway iirc, Am I lucky in that the local older farmers (younger ones will just bounce along happily) will pull over if there's a queue behind them and no safe place to pass or is this something in the highway code?

I found that in Cornwall they tend to pull over a lot. But over here in Beds & Herts they tend not to give a hoot and plod along.

It's nice of them to pull over, but i'm not too bothered when they don't. It's also fun watching others get irate about it.

Lincoln farmers are absolute testicle enclosures. On quite a few occasions whilst I was living there you'd come up behind one tootling sub-20mph striaght down the middle of the road, using the centre line like it was a scalextric power rail. They'd only move left when there was an oncoming vehicle or sharp bend.
 
Seems like one of those things that is just lack of consideration for other people, unless its an emergency would be best to avoid rush hour, same with retired people popping out to get the morning paper in rush hour.

All non essential traffic should ideally avoid peak times just out of consideration and for the greater good

All the guys round our way tend to start work between 11pm and 2am, but then have to get whatever they harvested off to the collection point before 9am, in time for whoever is buying it (Tesco, probably) to cart it away. I understand there are penalties for missing the appointed drop.

Never had a problem with it, myself. We live on a major tractor route and there is a school 400yds from our house with absolutely NO drop-off parking available. SUV-mothers can be parked up quite far past our house at times.
But the kicker is always, always, always people in general causing traffic - A few **** wombles deciding to change lanes at stupid moments, and my motorcycle ride of 15 minutes to work can end up taking well over an hour. With the car, it takes even longer. If there were pavements round our way, I really would walk!

Come on surely you can appreciate how it can become fraustrating driving 20 mph for 10-20 miles on a 60 mph road . If not then maybe you should do my journey on a daily basis and then come back to me. Also it's not about the time, it's about consideration, when they have ample opportunities to let people pass, fraustration comes when they don't.

20mph on my commute would be lovely, maybe you should try navigating through Manchester on a daily basis. You don't know what traffic is, lol.
Anyway I did miss the bit about them not pulling in now and again to let people past, but maybe they did one then no one would let them back out so they don't do it anymore.
